Hmmm... last year's average was even higher. Battier was only around for the first part of the season, and a pair of undrafted guys (Chuck + Brad Miller) really made the average higher. <style type="text/css"> table.tableizer-table {border: 1px solid #CCC; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;} .tableizer-table td {padding: 4px; margin: 3px; border: 1px solid #ccc;} .tableizer-table th {background-color: #104E8B; color: #FFF; font-weight: bold;} </style> <table class="tableizer-table"> <tr class="tableizer-firstrow"><th>Name</th><th>Draft Position*</th><th>Minutes</th><th>MinutesXDraft Position</th></tr> <tr><td>Kevin Martin</td><td>26</td><td>2603</td><td>67678</td></tr> <tr><td>Luis Scola</td><td>55</td><td>2412</td><td>132660</td></tr> <tr><td>Kyle Lowry</td><td>24</td><td>2563</td><td>61512</td></tr> <tr><td>Chase Budinger</td><td>44</td><td>1737</td><td>76428</td></tr> <tr><td>Courtney Lee</td><td>22</td><td>1723</td><td>37906</td></tr> <tr><td>Chuck Hayes</td><td>61</td><td>2079</td><td>126819</td></tr> <tr><td>Shane Battier</td><td>6</td><td>1818</td><td>10908</td></tr> <tr><td>Jordan Hill</td><td>8</td><td>1124</td><td>8992</td></tr> <tr><td>Aaron Brooks</td><td>26</td><td>811</td><td>21086</td></tr> <tr><td>Brad Miller</td><td>61</td><td>1015</td><td>61915</td></tr> <tr><td>Patrick Patterson</td><td>14</td><td>868</td><td>12152</td></tr> <tr><td>Goran Dragic</td><td>45</td><td>378</td><td>17010</td></tr> <tr><td>Ishmael Smith</td><td>61</td><td>329</td><td>20069</td></tr> <tr><td>Yao Ming</td><td>1</td><td>91</td><td>91</td></tr> <tr><td>Jermaine Taylor</td><td>32</td><td>77</td><td>2464</td></tr> <tr><td>Terrence Williams</td><td>11</td><td>84</td><td>924</td></tr> <tr><td>Jared Jeffries</td><td>11</td><td>138</td><td>1518</td></tr> <tr><td>Mike Harris</td><td>61</td><td>16</td><td>976</td></tr> <tr><td>DeMarre Carroll</td><td>27</td><td>11</td><td>297</td></tr> <tr><td>Hasheem Thabeet</td><td>2</td><td>4</td><td>8</td></tr> <tr><td> </td><td> </td><td>19881</td><td>661413</td></tr> <tr><td> </td><td> </td><td> </td><td> </td></tr> <tr><td> </td><td>Weight Average Draft Postiion</td><td>33.26859816</td><td> </td></tr> <tr><td> </td><td> </td><td> </td><td> </td></tr> <tr><td>* Undrafted = 61</td><td> </td><td> </td><td></td></tr></table>
and people wanted us to tank to move up in the draft? Based on this evidence... we need to trade back every year! lol (its a joke)
I would imagine the Spurs would have a pretty low (or high, depending on how you look at it) average as well. Granted, most of that's due to being able to get a bunch of guys who do 1 thing well because you have the best power forward of all time.
Also, if I'm correct, they were one of the first teams to heavily scout international players in international leagues.
Carl... all I can say is when you start doing math I get scared and more than a little nervous about how this will all end. This whole math thing you did is an idea but what does it really mean??? All I see are numbers that may or may not add up to a conclusion that means something only in 20/20 hind sight that could maybe be applied in a crystal ball type future mathematical Scenario that only Daryl Morey would have control over or understand how to apply. Great post headline though..I like it a lot.. Houston Rockets: Where lotto picks go... TO DIE..... NICE!! zzpot
Oooppps... Although Cbud is not in the rotation right now he is not a bust and was drafted buy Morey... I know he has haters on the boards but he is not a bust at all..... No longer with us is Brooks and he played well for a time until he blew a head gasket. there are others like JTayler and ..I digress I just want us to win as much as we can and tanking is not the answer at all Go Rox GAME ON!!! 24/7 zzpot<img src='http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/36.gif'>GO ROCKETS WIN #8<img src='http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/111.gif'><img src='http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/113.gif'><img src='http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/55.gif'><img src='http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/55.gif'>
Good stuff. I'd like to see some other teams calculations for comparisons sake .... especially the top playoff contenders as well as some of the teams in the lottery this season.
