Houston in advanced talks with Kevin McHale (UPDATE: Done Deal)

Of course! Him and Martin both!! Clearly both were unhappy and wanted to tell Morey and McHale in person how they disapprove of the hiring, tell McHale how bad of a coach he is and wont amount to anything, and lastly, how they're both setting this franchise back years.

 

The 2-Guard of Flowers is already lobbying for minutes and shots. What a schemer!

 

Who cares what a couple of assets think about the new hire?

 

McHale is just another asset anyways.

 

A friend of mine apologized to me on behalf of all of Minnesota for sending Kevin McHale to the Rockets.

Everyone I have talked to here in MN thinks hiring McHale was a stupid decision.

There's always a minority but generally the feeling here in MN was that he was a terrible GM and mediocre coach.

 

I don't get the coach part. He improved both teams he took over. What were they expecting? I think it's likely their perception of him as GM has clouded their ability to garner a fair coaching evaluation.

Having trouble getting the audio to play. I don't doubt that Petersen does actually think that way from what I have seen and heard of Jim Petersen is that he is really Minnesota nice and is also a former Golden Gopher like McHale which might color his opinion.

Speaking of McHale a funny story that I've heard about how he ended up at the U of MN. He was a high school stand out in Hibbing, MN but was initially thinking of some other schools besides the U of MN. On his recruiting trip to Minneapolis they got him really drunk at a bar called Stub and Herbs, that is still by the campus, and while drunk they got him to sign his commitment papers.

I like the hiring very much. I think he fits right in with where they are going.
