Now the question will be the future of the QB position. There's a chance Greg Ward Jr. comes back for his senior year....but I kind of doubt it. There could be a pretty big drop-off at the position if he doesn't come back. Even if he does decide to come back, a position change would likely serve him well at the next level if he's going to make it at the next level so the Cougars finding the QB of the future and moving Ward back to WR for his senior year could be an option.
Bowman Sells will be the future. Left handed QB is perfect for our system. No chance Ward leaves after this season. He doesnt have a future at QB in the nfl.
Given the success we've had so far, I don't think there's any way Greg Ward gets moved from the QB position. I think the chance of him coming back next year is pretty high. He's not an NFL qb. He's maaaybe an NFL return specialist. There's not really much buzz surrounding him being an NFL player ilke there is with William Jackson. Bowman Sells looks pretty legit so that'll give him a year to learn the system and improve under our staff before he's next in line.
Ward needs to stay through his senior year and then pull an Antwan Randle El and convert to WR for the combine. Having a 3rd/4th receiver with QB experience is a nice to have.
I don't have any specific info on it, I just considered the possibility of him leaving for the draft due to the exposure he's getting this year. Yeah I know he doesn't have a future at QB in the NFL, but he wouldn't be drafted to be a QB, he'd be drafted to be a slot receiver or change of pace RB. I think his chances of being drafted are slim, but I never assume that Juniors with a lot of national exposure plan to return for their Senior years. If there's no legitimate alternative, then sure, there's no way Greg Ward makes a position change, but given that he's not an NFL QB prospect, a senior year as a WR might do him a world of good when it comes to getting drafted. Hell I think if he declared this year that some team would take a late round flier on him....I mean those kinds of things happen http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/julian-edelman-1.html
The position change would definitely be better for his future career, but it wouldn't be better for the team. Schulz is a senior this year so he's not gonna be back. Postma gave us a great game against Memphis, but I think we saw with the UConn game that there's still a big dropoff between him and Ward at QB. After that, the next QB on our depth chart is Bear Fenimore, and we have no idea what he'd be like in game. We'll have Ayers, Allen and Bonner coming back next year, and Samples and Cleveland will probably be getting a lot of snaps as well. There isn't any room for Ward in there, and I'm not sure Ward can outplay any of those guys at the WR position. Herman is all about what's best for the team. He asked Postma to play WR at the beginning of the season because it was better for the team. Moving Ward away from QB is not going to be better for the team. We're opening up against our toughest matchup the very first game of next season. The only person who can be trusted at QB for that game is gonna be Ward.
Daaaaaaamn. Huge signing. Kid has a chance to be a stud. Might even start day 1 because our wrs outside of Ayers is nothing special.
Herman isnt the type of coach that gives people starting jobs no matter how talented they are. him, oliver and the others are going to have to earn it. our wr core is deep anyway. You underrating Chance Allen.
We've been getting studs in the line, again.. after all these years. Now, this...it's finally on again, with staying power! Eat Em Up!
Allen is an ok possession wr. Similar to the kid that transferred from usc. Cleveland is a homerun hitter. Will be fun to watch
