I think the biggest plus is that they traded a backup player for a starter.

someone updated wiki already. the internet is a mofo. contrast smith and timmy purpura. night and day. the reason i'm comparing them isn't to continually beat a dead horse, but both are new gms and both are supposed to be talent evaluating specialists.

But he was no longer a starter in Seattle, unless you mean here where he will most certainly be a starter.

Will Demps got cut? I thought he was good. from what I remember with the ravens, Demps would have been HUGE upgrade in the secondary. Can anyone with knowledge break down Demps vs. Boulware?

    Great deal!

The Texans shore up the achilles heal.

Great move by the Texans. Boulware is a very good safety and makes the secondary much stronger. If the trend of not getting to the QB continues, at least we'll have a good playmaker waiting to create turnovers.

I like it, Smith just keeps making solid moves. Can't wait for the season to get started.

I like the move. I think it is a definite upgrade at a dire need for this team.

Casserly's fingerprints are being removed from this team one by one.

I remember how it was spun off when we got him how we were getting two bona fide first round picks.

He has looked a lot better this preseason, but I still don't think he'll ever be worth that trade up.

    no no no no.

Did you see how bad he was against the Texans? Maybe as the backup to the backup dime back.

Great move by the Texans. Boulware took a lot of gambles but is a playmaker. He posesses great ball skills and they can get him to tone it down on the risk taking. He had like 8 picks two years ago. Not to mention he has linebacker insticts from his time at FSU and is a big hitter plus will help in run support. We can sit here and rehash the Babin deal. It sucked. Oh well, we can't change it. I say we look forward and this team is doing just that. We just got stronger at one of our weakest positions for a guy who has done nothing basically. I think Boulware is a great addition.

Aaron, welcome back to Houston, as a citizen not a Texan.

Donovin Darius was cut by Oakland...

    http://www.rotoworld.com/Content/playerpages/player_previousnews.aspx?sport=NFL&id=49

He has been a monster his whole career...

He had a torn ACL in 2005 and a broken ankle last season...

I'd like to see what he has left...

Oakland has one of the strongest secondaries in the NFL so it's not all that surprising that they'd cut him and let a younger guy get reps...

Oh, and he didn't receive a signing bonus with his contract so it's not like Oakland lost out financially either...

Great move by the Texans. Boulware is coming off a shoulder injury and that's a little scary, but Babin was expendable. This was a low risk high reward deal IMO.

Yes, Babin had 5 sacks last year, but if I remember right, 2 of them were in garbage time when the game was basically over. I can't remember which team, but I know they were both on the same posession and it was in the 4th quarter after the game was decided. I remember saying to myself "oh, NOW he get a couple of sacks...."

Anyway, like someone else said, we traded a situational pass rusher for a starting safety. How is this anything but a good deal.

One week and one 1/2 hours until GAME TIME.

Whose going to compete w/ him to be the starter? Jason Simmons? John Walker?

He's an automatic to pencil in as starter.

I think what he was saying is that we traded our backup for Seattle's backup...he wasnt saying that Boulware wouldnt start for us.
