University of Houston football coach Art Briles will travel to Dallas on Tuesday and interview for the vacant coaching position with the Baylor Bears.

Briles did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment.

Briles, 51, has coached at the University of Houston for five years, compiling a 34-28 record and taking the Cougars to four bowl games. The Cougars, who finished 8-4 this season, will play in the 2007 Texas Bowl, which will be held Dec. 28 at Reliant Stadium.

Baylor fired coach Guy Morriss Nov. 18, one day after the Bears finished their 12th straight losing season, finishing 3-9 overall, 0-8 in the Big 12. In his five years with the Bears, Morriss went 18-40 overall, 7-33 in Big 12 games.

He will get more money to go to Baylor but I think he should holdout for a better offer in the future. Baylor recruits the same caliber players as UH but he would be competing in the Big 12 instead of CUSA. If I were Baylor, I would go after Todd Graham of Tulsa. He is from that are he could flat out coach and recruit.

    Dammit.....

It's a shame if he goes, but there's really nothing more he can do at UH. Win C-USA and go to the Liberty Bowl, that's the ceiling of the program and the problem with college football.

Don't worry UH fans, Baylor will find a way to screw this up.

I just saw highlights of the UH basketball game tonight. It looked like there were 20 people in the stands. The team is 6-1. Penders should leave and go to a school that has support.

there weren't many people at the game, but it sure was loud there. once UH starts playing against conference opponents, it'll fill up.

    TRAITORRR!!!

oh well.. he had a good run here at UH. I went to a lot of his games to watch my boy Kolb. Haven't followed much of UH games this year tho.. only went to about 2-3 games.

Does the Athletic Department even "break even," income-wise, or are they still taking fees out of students' tuition? I'm skeptical they can afford a Spurrier, no matter how low his stock would (apparently) have to have "fallen." Wasn't that possibly part of why we hired a high school coach in the first place?

No. Todd Graham is a snakeoil salesman who has had the good fortune of having tremendous offensive coordinators during both of his head coaching jobs (Major Applewhite and Gus Malzahn). He has had no defense at all in either place. His players hate him.

Screw that piece of ****. It was fitting that he was called a douchebag over the Rice PA during the Rice/Tulsa game on Saturday.

I realize UofH isn't the best job, but Baylor is a sinkhole. I assume it must be a big jump in salary.
