It was the most expensive thing taken. And like I said, I'm a pro musician and at least 1/4 of my income comes from gigs that require me to play flute at least a little bit. It's not my primary instrument, but it makes me a hell of a lot more money than I would make if I didn't play it.

To each his own. I think that having the ability to play an instrument at a high level is commendable. I only know how to bang on pots and and pans with a spoon.

Hope you get some of your ish' back.

My three most valuable things: my sax, my dad's trombone, and my mom's flute. They're all expensive monetarily and mean even more to me on a personal level.

And no need to defend yourself. The only idiots giggling about this have absolutely no clue what these things can cost and don't know squat about music or much of anything else. They're probably all Nickleback fans, too.

I'm curious as to the make and model. And sorry for your loss, man.

It was a Sonare 601 flute with a Powell headjoint. Not the greatest flute but it was decent and a significant upgrade from what I was using in college. I'd only had it since July.

A friend of mine had his alto sax, flute, and clarinet stolen out the trunk of his car a few weeks ago. He teaches privately on all three and does a lot of musical work. He didn't have insurance to cover the theft like I do so he got royally screwed.

In terms of monetary value, my flute was the big item that was taken. But I don't really care about that. I'll use the insurance money to buy another one, no big deal. It'll just be a major inconvenience for me until then because I've got 5 gigs the rest of the month I need it for and now I have to play them on this other POS I have which will suck. I'm more concerned about the stuff that has sentimental value that was stolen that can't be replaced, like a necklace with a crucifix charm that belonged to my great grandmother.
