I hate watching those teasers for the next episode for that very reason. That being said, they have done a good job of making you think one thing will happen when it never does.
so, the whole cliffhanger of season one was they institutionalized the poor girl as being whacko because she was so sure the congressman was a terrorist but nobody believed her so they got her out of the way? now, the first two episodes...her CIA pal finds a drive and the first thing that comes on screen is a martyrdom video of the congressman. so, now the first thing that should happen is congressman gets busted but we all know this won't happen because something is going to happen. seems kind of silly. dude should be busted straight away and be in jail. instead, we're supposed to believe he is running for vice president. kind of lame if you ask me. asking me to buy into too much bullcrap.
Mandy Patinkin's IMDB page has him appearing in all 12 episodes...unless they're all flashbacks, Saul still lives.

yea you're right thts what it says in the description. But where the hell are they gonna go with this now?
No clue, the bad guys could just be cleaning up loose ends in the aftermath of Abu Nazir's botched assassination.
Please, no more pictures that big. I think ultimately Brody becomes VP and is a heartbeat away from becoming President. This is all rather preposterous, but it makes for entertaining TV.
I'm having a hard time enjoying the show as each episode just pisses me off. Its so ridiculously predictable and unrealistic. Brody just happens to be called into a room during the middle of a mission to take out his captor, and manages to thwart it with a text? Ok. You can already see what's going to happen next, as they are by some miracle able to get to Saul before he manages to tell anyone about the video. For once I want to see something unexpected happen.
I completely agree with you. Its becoming a bit "24"ish. Im ok with the shows overall premise of a brainwashed soldier/terrorist, despite how unrealistic of the manner, or the teenage angst or Claire Danes obnoxious acting. Saul is the saving grace of the show. We now have a terrorist, who is an elected congressman and eventually a VP, who was able to smuggle in a bomb vest next to the president. Now he's invited to sit in on highly sensitive missions, never mind that he would never have been allowed to bring in a burner phone into such a highly sensitive room. Further, the warning text would have been tracked back and they would have known the general location. What it comes down to is the writers have no imagination. Much of it has to do with the studios trying to squeeze every bit of life from a show at the expense of quality. Season 1 was a success. Now its all about dragging out the life of the show as long as possible.
Yes the last episode relied heavily on contrivance. You either roll with it or don't. There is no way a member of Congress is allowed into that room (perhaps a member of leadership or intel committee chair). And any personal device that could transmit would have been taken away long before he got close to that room. Then of course, finding some bag in some random apartment with the exact video that incriminates Brody.
