China spam-voting? Most ppl in China haven't even heard of the name "Jeremy Lin". You can argue he gets the support of overseas Chinese though.

I meant if he got a d1 offer he would have taken it over harvard.

big tall white stiff center on the knicks :) He was not completely useless though. He was a big body and clogged up the middle.

He was actually a pretty solid player and would be a pretty good backup center on most teams.

He also has the dubious record of 13 straight missed free throws.

Didn't this kid score 30 points against UConn? Shot 24+ points a game average with 67% accuracy? He actually looks pretty good on tape too.

Harvard doesn't offer scholarships for basketball. It was in the article a while back in the SI magazine.

I don't believe Harvard or any of the Ivies claim to offer full athletic scholarships, they just offer a package of grants etc which serve the same purpose essentially.

I'm sure he'll be a great overseas player. Maybe Yao Ming should sign him and make him the franchise player over there.

yea that's our primary disadvantage, none of the ivy's offer basketball scholarships and most of all they don't give too many perks or adjustments for the most part during the school year in terms your expected the same workload and no special treatment in classes. And workload can get really heavy and they have all their games(well mostly) on weekends for away games so that they can usually attend classes. It makes for a pretty damn hard experience and won't attract the guys who just want to goto the pros.

That was what so cool and surprising about Cornell's run this year, they have been competitive with some tough teams and dominating the Ivy's for the last 3 years, so it makes for a special team to see if they can make some noise this year at the tournament

Why do you think he would fail in the NBA?

That might not be the word, but it might describe the instrument that you used to think up your post?

In Cooks final year of college, he had 20ppg, 8rpg and 2 apg to boot. Sweet shooting 6'10 PF who can rebound a little bit? Where do I sign up?
It seemed like a good idea before he found cash, cheeseburgers and no desire!

Hill was a 19/11 guy with 2bpg thrown in - a 6'11 PF who can hit the 18' with consistency? Where do I sign up? Far too early to be writing him off just yet...

Oden is a fair point - 15ppg and 9rpg - no offensive ability beyond grabbing the offensive board and stuffing it back - or taking the feed and finishing in close. Oh - and one leg shorter than the other!
But a big man who can block shots and run the floor is the "P" word in a big way. He might pan out to be a servicable NBA player, but a no1 draft pick? ouch.

You probably coulda found some better examples of the "P" word than Cook and Hill, both players with established college careers!
(Thabeet woulda been a good start!)
