Whenever it went online, it didn't really begin until the advent of ClutchFans Dark.

I believe it was ’96 when Clutch first started the site then the forums came a little after. It took like five minutes for the site to load because I was on dial-up at home. What stuck out to me was that he said something in his profile about going to Klein H.S. and I went to Klein Oak. I remember wondering if he knew some of my friends that went to Klein. What really got me hooked was when I was in the UH library and between class one day I decided to read the forums. That day the Shandon Anderson trade was mentioned on the forums and then a few days it came true. That was it for me… Been to this site almost every day since.

IMHO, some things that have influenced the feel of the BBS over the years:

    - True insiders started posting popeye, olempiere (sp?), etc.
    - Articles by Jeff and others.
    - Clutch calls out LHuts, the grandfather of epics threads.
    - Clutch’s April Fools trickeries.
    - Clutch was not treated well by the Rocket’s organization.
    - Save Our Rockets
    - Clutch is accepted as an asset by the Rocket’s organization. I think it was Tad or some director of marketing that even posted on the site.
    - The influx of YOFs.
    - Mauray and analytics influence the discussions in the forums like a breath of fresh air.
    - DD hitting 20,000 posts, mostly because he was willing to argue with the 1,000,000+ YOFs in the GARM. I remember logging in and I swear half the threads were started by DD.
    - The golden age of the Hangout when epics posts came almost daily and quality posters found refuge from the YOF/DD threads in the GARM.
    - Bima’s salary cap posts were… money.
    - J.R. started posting everything Rockets related as soon as they hit the internet. Everyone accuses him of being a cyborg/robot to which he does not protest.
    - More and more videos, tweets, and instagrams started being embedded.
    - A handsome young lad is drafted in the 2nd round and immediately become the mancrush darling of the BBS.
    - LOFs invade. LOHs organically grew as a reaction to the LOF fanaticism.
    - Beverly takes Lin’s job and LOF spew hatred for Milk Hair.
    - Cyberex is the new popeye and Doc Roc leaves.
    - Lin is traded and LOFs are mostly gone. Those still here are in NBA Dish now. Thank gawd.
    - Chandsome leaves for douche town to star in Beauty and Beast with Cuban.
    - Like women who are left by hot men and they know they can never get anyone that hot ever again, the GARM is sprinkled with threads about Chandsome and how we are better off without him…

That’s all I can think of for now. I’m sure I missed a lot of events that have helped form the BSS as it is today.

    240 posts in 15 years. That's impressive.

Excellent point. The hangout became a refuge after 2 things. 1.) The Politicos were banished to the D&D 2.) The GARM became infested with YOFs.

    Those were the days.

    Dear Clutch,

I was hoping that you and I could get a ClutchFans community service group together. I can see that in the last ten days off free agency there are a lot of people with a lot of down time on their hands, myself included. I personally would love to help out people in need, and I would think we could get a good group of followers to join in.
I know I could start a thread on this topic, but I wanted to here from you first.
    Kind regards,
    Roc Paint

Great list. That Yao era needs more meat, it was huge and had nuances, more so than simply introducing YOF's. Sina became a news source for awhile.

    Yao era posts:
    - Mr Mean gets the best out of his players!
    - Mr Mean sux!
    - JVG gets the best out of his players!
    - Sina becomes a viable news source.
    - Franchise and Cat era closes, ending dribble for 23 secs/iso ball era.
    - Our savior T-Mac comes into town and it was all on him.
    - Posters used google to translate Chinese articles which was hilarious.
    - I don’t remember his (her?) name but there was a Chinese poster that started translating Chinese articles for us and I remember thinking how cool that was.
    - Mutombo faints, Sura faints, everyone faints…
    - Skip and his nasty floater comes to town.
    - Yao is hurt.
    - JVG sux!
    - Yao is hurt.
    - Adelman gets the best out of his players!
    - T-Mac earns tinman's wrath.
    - Yao is hurt.
    - Adelman sux!
    - Yao is hurt.

Yeah, I didn't visit the GARM as much as I used to once all the YOFs invaded. Then just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, here come all the LOFs.

Now both are gone, but sadly I still don't frequent the GARM as much anymore since I haven't been able to see most of the games on TV in 2 years....

Games back on TV, YOFs and LOFs cleared out.

Yes, I still have war feelings for the lake men.

I was mostly annoyed by the undying "CF poster vs Rockets player" vendettas, but they were/are part of CF history and occasionally entertaining:
    tinman vs TMac
    Zboy vs Juwan
    Kwame vs Battier
    Clutch vs Rafer
    King1 vs JLin
    Everyone vs Ryan Bowen

Not sure if KO40A was being facetious, but I find your post count pretty impressive considering your time line post. Something to be said for quality not quantity.

No I was being sincere. I think its unreal that someone could be on a message board for that long and only post an average of 16 times a year.
