I took some important photos and videos for work on my iPhone, and they were accidentally deleted. Anyone know of any way to recover those files? I've tried some standard undelete utils, but the phone doesn't appear as a USB drive in Windows. It's an unjailbroken iPhone 3gs, running iOS4.
Ehh, it probably isn't recoverable. You could jailbreak it and do a graverobber scan, but getting that to work is ugly. Let me do some research, but my guess is you're sort of SOL.
I may have lied... Check this out: http://viaforensics.com/services/iphone-forensics You might also be able to SFTP into your phone (via Jailbreaking) to find them... http://modmyi.com/wiki/index.php/Using_SFTP_in_OS_X_with_iPhone Also, check this out: http://menoob.com/iphone/how-to-rec...s-photos-contacts-notes-sms-call-history-etc/
I have actually tried to tried to do this before. First thing is stop using the phone and turn it off. You will need to jailbreak the phone. Ssh into the phone and use dd to copy the user partition bit by bit streaming the data onto the computer you probably need linux for this cause I don't know how windows pipes work. Then use a utility like photorec to carve the image up. This will take you a good hour to do and if you don't touch your iphone you can recover it.
here is a link explaining it: http://modmyi.com/forums/file-mods/237321-how-iphone-data-recovery.html
Looks like I'm SOL, since I really don't want to jailbreak (bad experiences in the past with that), and none of the other utils were able to locate the files. Thanks for the all the help, guys. Repped you both.
