I tried a spinning class on Friday morning at the request of a friend and OMG! MY THIGHS!!!! So how do you ease your sore muscles????? I'm doing Icy Hot, Salon Pas patches and ibuprofen.......it's not helping and I think it's getting worse if that's possible.
even tho it hurts, stretch the muscles some. stand on one leg and bend the other one at the knee and grab a hold of it at the ankle. it'll burn but it helps IMO. sorry!!
OMG I've been doing that stretch as much as possible...at the copying machine...at my desk...it helps loosen it right after. But then it comes back. It's gotten to the point that it feels like cramps and not just soreness. Should they still be sore? It's TUESDAY! Maybe I pulled something......?
Nair your nut sack . It'll make you forget the pain in your thighs. Wait, you did a spinning class... Maybe I shouldn't assume you are male.
Sounds like you overdid it. Been there, done that... It's gonna get worse. Day 2 will be worse than day one. Day 3 will be worse than day one but not as bad as day 2. Remedies? Arnica rub/pills Stretch It's gonna hurt like hell for a few days. If you can just stay in bed and recover, it would be a pretty good idea.
I knew that was coming!!!! And that thread is actually what prompted me to ask.....with all the mentions of Bengay etc.
I usually drink lots of water and stretch. Massage helps out too but once the soreness is there it's tough to get rid of it. You would do best in preparing to prevent soreness. Lots of water, stretching before and after physical activity. and again. WATER WATER WATER!!
I get sore muscles all the time and pretty sore at the moment from a hard work out last night. A good massage works to squeeze out the lactic acid and encourage blood flow. A jacuzzi does wonders too. A lot of stuff needs to be done just before, during and right after working out. Warm up gradually, stretch once you're moderately warm, drink lots of water while working out, gradually taper off your workout (cool down), stretch at the end, breathing excercises and then ice down the affected muscles. Moderate muscle soreness is also a good thing because building up muscle mass requires damaging the muscles at a microscopic level and then when they heal they come back stronger. You just want to avoid major tearing or straining.
Been there before! You would have known it if it was a major tear from day 1 so don't worry about the soreness, it will start to go away in the next few days. I used to do 4 sets of squats IMMEDIATELY followed by 4 sets of lunges and it gets sore for the whole week to where I couldn't even walk straight.
Protein, antioxidants, and for you ... the ibuprofen. And keep stretching! If you damaged the muscles that much, they're gonna wanta heal tight.
