He's the same type of player Delfino was. He has already played with Dwight, I don't see a reason not to sign the guy other than cap issues.
What would you do if you were Hedo? Sign for 3.7M for a team in your native country where you can beast and be a national hero or sign with the Rox for 1.4M and be one of 19 guys trying to nail down a spot as a role player with limited minutes. Just move on, he ain't coming.
The $ difference may not be that big given the set off provision in the standard NBA contract unless he and the Magic negotiate otherwise. I also would imagine that if Orlando knows that he will take a lucrative job, they would hold out for a discount on the $6M guaranteed. Morevover, (1) Hedo has said he wants to play in the NBA until he reaches 1000 games (he's near 900 now), and (2) Hedo has made plenty of money and a couple million bucks may not make much of a difference in his financial outlook. As for "fighting for a chance to be in the rotation," I doubt it. Hedo is an excellent player and forms an symbiot with Dwight Howard. If he joins the Rockets he will certainly have a rotation spot and is likely to be Houston's starting power forward.

he would be great for mentoring Harden despite his limited athletic ability, he was a pretty complete player
It's a moot point because the chances of him coming to Houston are slim and I don't know what Hedo you're talking about but Turkey-glue is not starting for any team in the NBA. He's a bench/role player at best at this point in his career and maybe not even that if his jump shot doesn't come back.
Imagine getting Turkoglu & Illyasova? We'd have the Turkish national front line! The Asian & Asia Minor markets sown up! But do not want...I think he is way past his prime.
we do in theory have a lot of 3 point shooters already off the bench. however what hedo needs is to play for someone like the rockets, where he doesn't have to have a lot of offense load and just launch wide open 3's. I'm sure his 3 point % would sky rocket back to his better shooting years. he played for the magics last year, i'm sure he didn't get the same looks as he would with the rockets.
