We let him do the first one, he birthed a girl. Now its up to us. What if they continue to plop out girl after girl after girl? We can't take that risk.
I wonder why they aren't having more kids. His daughter was born in 2010. He needs to make at least 5 sons for the Rockets.
Yao Ming really didn't learn enough from Wilt. That was the big man he should have idolized. Then we might even have 10 sons from him.
Pass on Bosh at any cost, we all know Rockets give us an unhealthy heart. Do not take any players with those type of problems. I don't want to relive Hank Gathers.
He won't be even in this conversation if we knew Morey would pass up on suspect players that had talent. Unfortunately we dun know for sure.
I'd be surprised if Morey takes a chance with players with health conditions like that Iowa State guy that gave us problems. I don't think he wants to mess with that anymore.
Even if the other two do, I can't see any way the league doctor clears him. Unless they think there's a 0% chance of him dying on the court.
Chris Bosh could drop dead at any moment doing anything. Everyone is acting all high and mighty but I don't get it. Who are we to try and dictate how someone else lives their life? Free will is and "should" be important. No one gives a flying fuuk if joe blow dies climbing mount everest doing what he loves. Why should we care if Chris decides to risk his life doing what he loves? Just like the mountain climber, he knows the risk and is willing and wanting to take that risk. I say give him the opportunity to do what he loves.
I agree with your post however the problem is the negative fallout that can happen if Bosh dies. First of all you may have the issue of Bosh's family filing a case against the Rockets since they can argue that the Rockets "drove" Bosh to his death by having him engage in a high intensity activity despite knowing he can die at any moment. That's gonna a messy lawsuit that the Rockets can lose since they know his condition. Secondly what's gonna happen with his salary? I'm assuming Bosh won't sign for the minimum, he's kinda risking his life after all so I'm guessing he's gonna sign for a max deal. When he dies that basically tanks the season since the Rox will have a gaping hole in the roster. And Morey will probably be fired by Les Alexander cause I don't think insurance will cover his salary since the Rockets signed Bosh knowing he can die at any moment. So IMHO it's just too big of a risk to sign a max FA. If we're talking about Lebron level talent sure, but Bosh played horribly since Lebron's last year in Miami, he scored 0 pts in that final game 7 and has regressed ever since, I don't think Miami even made it past 1st round after Lebron left and that's with only Lebron missing from their championship team. And Bosh has been away from the game for some time now, he's out of shape but I'm worried the moment he tries to get in back in shape he'll have a seizure from the intense physical activity and die. At this point I think Sanders is a much better gamble than Bosh. Sanders' only problem is motivation, he can easily work himself back up to game shape, he's still young and he has proven to be effective until he retired and he probably won't sign for the max.
How is his condition?..... If he does not play is he still in grave danger? He would not be doing competitive sports. I hope they can somehow control his situation that there would not be this kind of emergency.
I understand the dynamics and the possible fallback if the worst were to happen. I realize the lawsuits and possible litigation etc.. And if I'm recognizing this I'm sure the rockets and/or NBA or team who signs him would word it into whatever contract that would be signed. I'm sure they would have to put in anti-liability clauses putting the sole responsibility and blame on boshes decision. I also would be lead to believe it would have to be a dmo style contract, where every year is basically a team option with multiple physicals having to be passed.
...but why would you want to potentially introduce the trauma of a teammate dying on your team? Bosh dies, and it pretty much kills your season too. Deep playoff runs don't happen for teams with distractions, and Bosh's healthy concerns would be a constant distraction and if he were to die it would be a MASSIVE distraction. The litigation is honestly the least of your worries(because I'm sure they would take every legal precaution) but your only signing him to build a title contender and the distractions his life threatening health condition brings would outweigh any sort of talent that he could bring to this roster and that assumes he still has something being in his mid 30s and out of the league(and athlete "shape") for over a year. I'm outta here - this thread reeks of desperation.
No one is signing him for max, period. If he wanted the max money, he just has to sit on the couch for next 2-3 years. It's his life long passion.
