#1: He can not stop Shaq for at least three years. #2: If he plays 20 mins, he will commit 4 fouls this year. #3: He can make 20/10 in a couple of games, but usually, in 15 mins playing time, he can give the team 8/5. #4: He can not stir the media, for the most of time, he just sit at the bench quietly, watching Francis/Mobley show. #5: He doesn't dunk alot. #6: He will block and get blocked. #7: He remind you of Rik Smits or A.Sabonis. Guess who is he. Let us set a legitimate expectation on him.
Caron Butler Jay Williams? //////////////////////// You guys deserve the words coming from the StockMarket' bull's mouth,"Wrong,....but interesting!"
8 ppg 5 rpg? That guy isn't going to see 10 minutes let alone 15 minutes. With those numbers he'll be the 3rd string center behind Cato and Collier! Then again your description could easily be Jason Collier! JC! JC!
Dirk Nowitzki averaged 8.2 p/g and 3.4 rb/g on .40% shooting in 20 min/g his rookie year. Was it a mistake for Dallas to pick him? I think you can make a case that he was worthy of the #1 overall pick in that draft (the two who are arguably better are Paul Pierce, and Vince Carter). Despite this, many of the people in his draft class did much better than him that year. Jason Williams, for instance, was picked higher than him and statisticaly smoked him that year. Would you trade JWill for Dirk right now? Ming is worth the pick because he has both the tools to be great and the attitude and personality to fufill his potential. The only halfway logical arguement against him I've heard involves the posibility of his height predisposing him to injury, and that's nothing but speculation. All the 'speculation' picks that end up busts do so because they're either not intrested in the game (Shawn Bradley), unwilling to work (Robert Traylor/Cato), or just plain crazy.
Why does no one ever mention assist numbers. The guy plays well with the ball in his hands. I hope he develops chemistry with someone like Vlade and Webber have.
Well said chinese, but I still expect Yao to play 25+ minutes in his rookie year and give us 14 and 10. If he's not going to, then who will? Cato and Collier?Seriously I can't find one thing they do better than Yao does. I know that the higher the expectation, the more the disappointment, but I'll bank on what I perceive.
