BeeBeard: I'm getting a kick out of your "kicking against the pricks" (a biblical quote, actually). Bima Thug can be a dick, and you can take him on if you really, really, do the work, but you aren't there. I encourage you to do so, but even if you are his equal, you will get little support on this board. You have to be very good for a good while to really get your props here. Pipe down and do the work, or just pipe down. Good luck in any case.
Looking into the numbers this year and noticed smith has a negative offensive win share. That is insane! Comparing him to Patterson, there is definitely an offensive efficiency hit, but the defensive rebounding and defense would go through the roof: Code:
Rk Player Season Age G MP PER TS% eFG% ORB% DRB% TRB% AST% STL% BLK% TOV% USG% ORtg DRtg OWS DWS WS WS/48 1 Patrick Patterson 2012-13 23 44 1130 15.6 .570 .555 7.2 13.6 10.4 7.1 0.8 1.8 8.5 18.7 114 109 2.1 0.7 2.8 .117 2 Josh Smith 2012-13 27 46 1644 17.2 .485 .474 6.5 21.0 13.8 19.8 1.9 4.8 15.0 26.7 94 100 -0.7 2.8 2.1 .061
What is odd is that players don't tend to decline at age 27, that should be when they start peaking. He hasn't had a major injury, so its either effort or coaching. Now I haven't really been a big hawks follower so I am not sure what has caused Smith's numbers to free fall, but looking at years past, he has shown he can be a legit force on both sides of the ball. A Smith/Gortat pairing would be solid. I think we might want to not immediately dismiss Josh Smith, because he could add a new dynamic to this team.
I did mention his penchant for ridiculous long 2s. Sure, 'pending price' - - have a $# in mind? 1 year, 5 mil? OK. 4 years, gabillion millions? Not so OK. OK?
