i actually tried to picture david stern speaking into the camera, and the words just flowed right out
Fans can't be trusted to give accurate takes on officiating. There were missed/given calls both directions.
That.... doesn't increase the goodness of the officiating. What the more mature fans want (and you'll hear commentators like Van Gundy say this as well) is just consistency. Bad calls happen in all sports, but the suspicious shift in how games are officiated with comparable calls throughout the game in the NBA can be pretty jarring. If bodying up on a guy is a foul, don't make it a foul for one team and not the other. Also, don't make it a foul in the first half and not a foul in the second half. That definitely happens. A version of that is what happened tonight.
Teams usually get "assistance" when they're down and making a comeback. Similar happened during the Game 6 comeback @ LAC.
Maybe they are doing him a favor and giving him a head start for the playoffs In the playoffs I’ll see him get denied 5 fouls in a row but his stubborn ass will keep trying to find one and waste multiple possessions Bring back the step back king in the post
to me they were going to do it anyway. James calling them out puts them on notice. If they don't clean up the contest you have another game where a guy takes 4 steps out of bounds and there is no call and the main point is everyone is going to remember the rox called this out early.
It's nice of them to do it now rather than games three five and six in the playoffs That's why we have fire drills. League must be scurried of a repeat mvp. This is Commodus Gladiator level rigging folks
