Not every tall person loves basketball.

 

Seems like everything I have read is he has low BBIQ. So, while he has measurables, he is a negative in team defense. A shame really! If he could at least be someone like Ian Mahinmi, he could get some decent backup C minutes.

 

but usually millions of dollars gives you the means to do what u love. It at least gives you the freedom to pursue what u love.

 

I mean he is play professional basketball. If you are doing anything you should give it your all.

 

Kid went ham on Gasol and the Bulls. His shot blocking is elite, he would look great in Rockets red

 

Capela has a higher upside than Whiteside, but is a few years behind him.

Not everyone has to love their job to be competent at it, sales clerks don't wake up every morning thinking "I'm so gonna ring up 100 pairs of socks today!", still doesn't prevent them from plastering a smile on their face and doing their job well.

Whiteside was born with so much talent for b-ball, his measurables are off d charts. Maybe he doesn't have the burning passion for ball that he does for other stuff, but since he has so much talent for it and he can make millions of dollars he should at least be competent at ball so it will give the funds he needs to do what he really wants.

 

MUCH RESPECT to Basketballholic for starting this thread damn near two years ago and for seeing what he saw in Whiteside.
The whole league is just seeing that, over the last month and especially today.
Ridiculous play by him and his ability to block shots AND play defense as a big man. Damn. Would be nice to have him backing up Dwight right about now.

You know you responded to a post by REEKO_HTOWN from almost a year ago right? On a day that Whiteside definitely cemented the fact that he is more than at least competent at Basketball.

 

It was keeping it 100 to the max. Loved it.

 

He would have but he had every chance to show his skills on a consistent basis but chose not to when he was playing for Vipers. It has taken him 5 years to get it going, it normally takes 3 years in the league to really judge a player. Whiteside just fell through the cracks but has finally got it going due to his choice to get better and mature.
