Yes, I believe we had those in the past, and there were people who changed their opinions because of D&D, believe it or not.

 

Sometimes it's not about changing a position, but understanding the different point of view. A good discussion can accomplish that.

I changed my position on abortion because of posts made by Mad Max. I no longer support abortions in the 3rd trimester unless the health of the mother is in danger. I have mentioned it before in D&D. Your question has been asked more than once in the past.

 

Yes -- I've been fact checked more than once by posters in D&D and proven wrong on things.

 

I would say that being on here has helped me become more informed - there are some very smart and quality posters here.

I was somewhat on the fence about global warming until a debate I had with Ottoman which forced me to do some digging and find out that indeed, it stands up to the highest of scientific rigors.

No; but you read enough of individual posters on different issues or, less objectively, get enough biographical info about them, it can change your opinion of them from any initial debates, and not necessarily for the better.

 

I think I can beat anyone here in chess speed or otherwise.
