PLS Read OP's question before you even start to make your statement. I voted for lin as he has to go and I'm ashamed of myself.
I picked Lin just to mess with the obvious LIN vs Harden Baiting... but like I said before Lin is a goner...in 3 years time...probably traded
Why? Harden has way more trade value at this moment. Move Harden means much greater value in return. Consider how Lin and Chandler played together last year, I believe an aggressive Lin + a dominant inside player(for example Howard) > Harden + whoever you get from Lin.
I did read OP's question. And I'll say it once again. Anybody who chose Lin over Harden (as in keeping Lin over Harden) should be ashamed of themselves.
Great logic. Heat should trade Lebron because he has the most trade value. Knicks should trade Melo because he has the most trade value. Should the Thunder trade Durant because he has the most trade value? Probably so. C'mon dude....
Trade a player you can build around usually means you get another player you can build around. Morey will not trade Harden for garbage. Plus I'm not convinced Harden can be the #1 guy on a Championship team based on his defense yet.
Harden is the best player and most talented player on this team, but he will need to be a sidekick to a star player
Knicks certainly will trade Melo for Lebron without a 2nd thought. Harden isn't the best thing in NBA yet. The only players that really can't be moved are Lebron and Durant, because you are not getting same caliber players in return. Harden is not in that group yet.
Doubt it's easy to get a star player better than Harden off of a trade. Plus he's only 23 years old and how many shooting guards are better than him?
Trade Lin IMHO. Harden is someone to build around. Lin might worth something to LA. We might land Gasol+. A good skilled big man is definitely helpful to Harden's game too.
Oh well, his points seems to be you don't trade your best player. That simply is not true. Harden is not MVP caliber player at this moment.
trading lin sounds good. with the way we use harden, lin has to go in exchange for a better spotup shooter
So what you're saying is.... Unless you have Lebron or Durant, you should trade your best player, regardless of his ceiling or how young he is, and regardless of whether you just traded for him, and get whatever you can in return. Interesting strategy....
