Best news for the Rockets is that Harden is in the Top 5 in MVP voting and after witnessing the playoffs he might not even be our 'best' player. That is an awesome position to be in when luring potential big name free agents & then Vets looking to 'cling for a Ring'... Who knows stars may even take a pay cut to unite in H-Town. Once again well done James.
Congratulations hopefully makes first team all nba too . I'm glad we have him and he is still so young I know he didn't have the best playoff series but he's got plenty of time to make up for it.
I agree. We shouldn't let his playoff performance hurt his MVP chances. Hell, Durant's performance in the playoffs wasn't much better anyway....
In the regular season he certainly looked the part. We saw some things in the playoffs that might be issues long term but IMO he's still young enough to get it all together.
I don't think anyone can question Harden as a top 5 player in this league. But, the drop off from the top 2 or 3 players to the rest of the top 5 is a large leap. I hope James can take that leap to becoming a top 3 player in the game. What was he ranked before the season? 4th?
For awhile, people had trouble listing him ahead of Westbrook in peer comparisons; probably some mental anchoring being done because OKC had prioritized Westbrook over Harden at extension time. Obviously, Durant's presence is taking votes away from Westbrook. But, it's good to see Harden not limited by the Westbrook-ceiling.
This is awful. I'd put Kyle Lowery ahead of him. For a guy that plays ZERO defense and spotty offense mostly drawing on fouls...he should not be top 5
So Harden is the only guard. Why have rules anymore if they're so desperate to get guys like Griffin in.
Spotty offense? Like Durant? Because I believe he drew slightly more fouls per game. Harden's offense was spotty in the playoffs, no doubt. And the defense has always been an issue. But I think you're letting some emotion cloud your judgement.
Not sure I get this comment. Are there actual rules based on position or are you just oblivious to the type of season Griffin had?
So he couldn't get in the top 5 the whole season, yet at the end and after the season when he failed to lead us, he's in?
And that's with Harden taking a ton of heat this year for his lackluster defense. That's a pretty good sign of how good the league thinks he is.
