You really don't see the difference between an offseason interview where Harden ultimately acknowledges he's still chasing the likes of LeBron/KD, and CP anointing himself the best SF in an actively ongoing playoff series where we're down? Honestly?

Because you don't outright come out and say you're the best player. It's obvious LeBron is the best player still playing in the NBA right now, but I don't think you'll personally hear him admit it.
The best athletes have this certain attitude and confidence and usually deliver on what they say. I believe him, but time will tell.

I'm the best blogger on this site. However were I to be asked on the record "who is the best blogger on Clutchfans"...I would probably say either Carl, or that other guy, or that other guy. I wouldn't be so brazen as to say "it's me" even though that's probably the truth. Be a good teammate and leader, James, divert the question and say "well, I don't know who the best in the NBA is but...what I will tell you is that Troy Daniels might well win Rookie of the Year this year and DMO the Most Improved Player!"
If DMo can joke around and say something tongue-in-cheek ... you gotta look at the context. Read between the lines. It was an expression of confidence, not to be taken literally. Because he later said there are still guys he's trying to catch.
Delusional... swagger is one thing but he has to stay humble if he really wants to improve. Otherwise the I've got a lot of learning to do bit is just talk.
