In keeping with this topic, should the Rox officially move Harden to PG since he needs the ball all the time?

yeah, closest analogy, probably. both dominate the ball and seems not knowing any other way/style to play bball. and w/ gsw in the west, getting to the finals seems remote. plus harden isnt as talented as ai.

but that's not the main thing. the main thing is his attitude and mental makeup.

i'll say this again. harden is a #2 on a title-contending team. you make him #1 and "build around" him, you'll be doomed if you truly have championship ambitions.

oh and btw, a 26yrs-old (will be 27 when next season starts), 7th season nba player isnt a "young" player.

Agreed. Harden doesn't have the talent or the mental disposition to be a #1 on a championship team. He's a Robin not a batman. He's more Klay Thompson than Steph Curry

Well there's an issue there then. Because due to Harden's characteristics you have to build around him. He will influence what kind of PG and SF you can have and C.

All have to be great defenders. The C has to be able to protect the rim. The PG has to be able to play off the ball and be versatile defender and the SF has to be 3+D and versatile enough to guard big sgs.

The hardest to get is the PG by far, but also the kind of SF Harden needs next to him has become a hot commodity in the modern game.
The C is much easier to find.

not sure what you were saying there. "have to"? i guess you meant he wouldnt accept the robin's role?

stats can be deceptive at times. i guess even harden himself has been getting too much into it (and thus "i am the real mvp and the best player in the league" statement). if we let some other players such as butler or kawhi dominate the ball as much as we do harden, they'd have similar stats, too.

but championships go beyond just #'s. i have said i'm always curious how morey quantifies and measures the mental side of things. i really do want to know.

You cannot build a Championship team w/ Harden because of the way he plays.
Look at the teams that have won and how they play :Golden State,Spurs,Miami, even that damn Dallas team. They played as a team.

Harden is a great volume shooter who needs the ball 60-70% of the time to be effective.

Harden to me is is the same as Carmelo and Allen Iverson to name a few. Great talent but for some reason cannot make his teammates better.

I agree Harden is not a true #1. He needs a DMo-Anthony Davis type player to be effective, who can take over when he's cold or bottled up.

Horford and Millsap in the front court. Get him another playmaker in Teague. A 3pt specialist in Korver.

Give up Dwight, Lawson, Brewer and Jones

the lesson to learn from ty lawson isnt that we cant put any ball handling players on the team with james. its that we cant put a ball handling player who does not like to create his own shot. when the defense focuses on james, we need a ball handling player who can take advantage and create for himself. parsons josh smith thornton have succeeded at ball handling while james is on the court and they arent even especially good. unfortunately the best way to guard ty is to just take away the assists by locking in on the other players. so he does not create space for james and dwight. it might actually be easier for defenses to overload james and dwight when ty is playing

No. Have to= > FIT. Fit for the pg and sf. Read my post again. You have to put specific kind of players next to him due to the following issues
    1) horrible defence
    2) ball dominance
    3) inabillity/unwillingness to play off the ball.

Millsap alone is worth more than that package. Millsap is the best pf in the east and an all star in his prime in a great contract. lol.
