There's the fault in your logic: to allow your pets to "roam" unsupervised is negligent and irresponsible. You can't let your pet face nature with no protection and then get mad when nature acts naturally. Your cat is dead because you opened the door.

I hate possums. Disgusting, nasty ass creatures.

    That is all. Carry on.

    Thanks for the help.

By the way. The Bud Davis comment was in dedication to Urban Cowboy.

DaDakota - Residents on our street never had a problem letting their animals (that have tags) hang around outside of their house until the construction site came along. I adopted this animal and others from the SPCA. I paid to have all it's shots and I take care of my animals. These f#ckers are everywhere. Nothing has been done to remedy this problem. I have lost an animal and you are calling me irresponsible? Whatever you say. What do I know?

Does anyone know if opposums can be tamed? Maybe you could trap it, tame it and take the place of the cat as the family pet. I mean with a prehensile tail and opposoble thumbs I can see hours of fun with a pet possum. ;)

I'm willing to bet that it was probably a raccoon that killed your cat. They don't eat dogs or cats but they will fight if confronted by them. I saw a couple in my friends back yard last night .... they were frickin huge and fugly.
