Ok it's been 51 games, not 41, but the all star break signals the pseudo half-way point for the NBA season. For the Rockets it's been a roller coaster ride since... well, since before it even began. Starting with a turbulent off season due in large part to the news that Yao would miss the season.

Experts and fans alike had a grim outlook for the Rockets 2009-2010 season. Most predicted that they would be playing only for ping pong balls and a chance at John Wall. To nearly everyones surprise they have faired relatively well. They may be the smallest team in the league and they may have the least recognizable roster in the league, but to their credit they've won by playing together, with heart, and pride.

I can't help but compare this team with the Washington Sentinels from the film "The Replacements." A comedy based on the 1987 professional football players' strike. Gene Hackman plays the coach of the team and Keanu Reeves plays Shane Falco, the "scab" who replaces the All-Pro quarterback which the team later refuses to play with (tmac). Rallying behind Shane batti-uh-Falco, their new vocal leader, this rag-tag group fights to make the playoffs and fall in love with hot cheerleaders.

Plus Adelman looks a lot like Gene Hackman as the coach of the Sentinels:

Cheers to the Rockets on a successful first half! and here's to the second half and hopefully the post season!

This team has no shot @ winning the title, I kind of wish we would tank this year, this year's top 5 picks are all potential super stars. Us tanking in a year where we can't win a title, to have a much better shot for the next 5-10 years would be really nice IMO.

No way this Rockets team is less recognizable than, say, the Minnesota Timberwolves, Milwaukee Bucks, or New Jersey Nets.

McGrady may not be traded, and if he is, it's highly unlikely a package is put together to get a superstar. Outside of Yao being out, this is the Rockets' team, give or take a few pieces. These guys aren't replacements -- they're the regulars.
