Nice. There were reports Valve employees were running around with shirts like this, so not a huge surprise.
Hate to be a buzz kill, but that is not a Valve site. The domain was registered through Network Solutions just two days ago. This might make sense. Has Valve released anything huge lately? I'm not sure how they could improve much upon HL2 (gravity gun and DM gameplay)...but would be curious to see. Maybe 3D? Or maybe just a hoax. It did provide a little stirring down in my nether-regions though. Hope this is true.
http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/4163/article/possible-half-life-3-website-breaks-hearts/ Possible Half Life 3 Website Breaks Hearts Holy guacamole! Could it be? A legitimate Half Life 3 website? Oh my god I can barely contain my joy, don’t hurt me again, Valve! www.black-aperture.com popped up very recently and has already caused mass anxiety attacks, fits of hysteria and even cases of a little pee coming out. As exciting as it is, however, the legitimacy is unconfirmed, and many are sceptical. We’ve been hurt before, it’s hard to blame non-believers. A quick Whois search shows the domain for both Black-Aperture and the official Valve Software website both have some matching details. That being said, however, if you check the DNS record compared to that of Valve and the Half Life website, it doesn’t seem to check out. Damnit. So it seems that if those calling shenanigans are to believe (and they probably are), we all peed our pants a little over nothing. Interesting how this follows a trail of Half Life 3 hoaxes and conspiracies, though - the Half Life 3 t-shirt, the apparent ARG that not even Gabe Newell knows about... Maybe it will all add up soon. Maybe.
Gabe Newell (founder and CEO of Valve) replied to an email from a fan on 4CHAN, he then followed up with the email that they will be annoucing "something with a three in it" at E3 2012. This is him toying with us all as it could be... Half-Life 3 Half-Life 2 Episode 3 Team Fortress 3 Left 4 Dead 3 Portal 3 Counter-Strike 3 (1.6 and CS:Source were 1 & 2) etc. Gabe is a master troll, level 100.
I think most people are expecting Half-Life 3. Episode 2 was released over 4 years ago (10/07), I just can't see them saying "here's another episode, thanks for waiting 4+ years!"
Did you ever try playing any of the games? I just remember buying Half-life when it first came out and played through it multiple times. Went on to play counter-strike for years and years and have played all the subsequent Half-life games. Highly entertaining and such a unique feel. I'd say try it out if you never really played them. I'm just hoping Counter-strike 2 or Half-life 3 comes out in the not-too-distant future.
I played Half-Life 2, it could never hold my interest. To be fair, FPS is not my favorite genre, and I think I was kind of hooked on a few other games at the time, so I might try it again.
Yeah if FPS isn't your thing then I understand completely. Always loved half-life cause it was usually part FPS part problem-solving. Portal is an entertaining game that is an FPS puzzle game with the same engine. I would recommend not buying it though if you aren't that thrilled and just try playing it or borrowing it from someone since after you beat it you kind of know how to run through the game quickly.
half life 2 was mind blowing as a FPS fan. Just an amazing game. HL3 would definitely make me buy a gaming rig and come out of my gaming retirement.
Half Life 2 along with the Episodes are among my favorite FPS of all time. Can't believe it's going on 5 years now from Episode 2's release. C'mon already!
Since that time Valve, a small independent gaming company, has released Portal 1 and 2, Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, Team Fortress 2, Alien Swarm, DOTA II Beta and built-out the single best cloud-based game delivery platform on the planet (Steam). As much as I love Half-Life, I love every one of the other titles as well. They've kept me happy!
I still play the hell out of TF2. I don't see them replacing that anytime soon. And wasn't there already an announcement about a new CS earlier this year? Also, I would assume that either of those would come out after the next Half Life, since they will run on the same engine. This thread has inspired me to go back and play through Half Life 2 again. Haven't touched it in years.
