Along with Shake Shack, Halal Guys is one of the most overrated food things in this country imo. It is a tasty post partying meal at 3AM but nothing special really and there are better chicken & rice stands in NYC.
tried this last night in the new houston locaton. pretty damn good, but nothing i would ever get for dinner again. definitely a thing you split with a friend when you're hammered late night. so much oily rice/meat and they just drench it with that mayo based white sauce.. good lord, the toilet is calling my name. falafel was spot on too
Went to the Houston outpost of this place this week. What an unmitigated disaster and massive pain in the ass, for something that is somehow even more mediocre than the NYC version. An hour before close they run out of rice. They start "saving" french fries for people who ask for them in the back of the line, but tell people towards the front they can't make more. They dudes working there are perma-confused... The people eating were throwing their trash all over the place, including on the ground, in the parking lot... How on Earth would anyone consider this place good food or a good experience? Whoever above said this place is for grabbing some random **** when you are wasted is about right.
never tried Halal guys in NYC but heard it's way better than the one here Did a review on Halal Guys vs Jones vs Gyro king if you guys want to check it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsF-Avy8pEs <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/TsF-Avy8pEs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Went to the one in NYC today. For cheap street food it's pretty great but I'd rather go to a nice restaurant any day. Not worth more than a 15 minute wait.
