I've been eating Zankou Chicken on the regular since this thread popped up and I'm already plotting for tomorrow
Most halal and kosher meat isn't even halal or kosher. Usually what happens is two old retired men one Jewish and one Muslim just sit in a meat packing factory and talk all day and that's their license to say it's kosher or halal. Or Muslim prayers are played. Either way the procedure is the same stun gun and kill. In the end nobody knows the difference.
The way the animal is killed certainly matters to people who care (I don't). http://time.com/3635417/midmar-hala...635417/midmar-halal-muslims-beef-islamic-law/
I know it does but much of the time the sticker is put on even though the method isn't what is advertised. At the end of the day can anyone really tell? I don't think so.
It's very easy to find out where your meat is coming from. Ask the butcher who supplies their animals, there's only a handful of proper halal/kosher purveyors around.
I can only tell the difference in meat if it's factory raised vs natural farm raised and grass fed. But kosher/halal vs "unblessed" makes no difference at all if they're all factory raised animals
Kosher and Halal meat has always tasted MUCH better to me. I have weird sense of taste with meat though.
