I know everyone in here loves to talk about those championship teams and put them on a pedestal but I'm sorry the Harden CP3 Rockets woulda destroyed the championship Rockets teams. That was the best Rocket team ever assembled if they could have just stayed healthy. They shoulda beat the greatest team ever assembled. I'm not sure Hakeem's Rockets could even win 1 game. The skill level of guards in today's nba is so much better. The volume of threes they took would have just blown the game wide open. Comparing ERAs is never a good thing for the older generation. The game evolves. Humans evolve. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just not paying attention. No team scoring 85 points a game could compete with Harden CP3 rockets. They might get 85 in first half.
Stuff like this is crazy. Tim Duncan, Kawhi, Manu, Tony Parker Spurs are 10 times better than anything dream beat.... Lob City Clippers also better than any team Hakeem played.
The thing u have to consider are the rules also. Imagine what dream would do if u wasn’t allowed to barely touch him without a foul called. Dream and Jordan would shoot 20 free throws a game.
Jordan already shot 20 free throws a game. How much more you wanna give him. For all the foul baiting people complain harden does. Jordan shot more free throws than him. Especially in playoffs. Jordan and Hakeem might be the exception. The rest of the team couldn't play with the Rockets. Kenny smith would give up 75 points to harden or Chris Paul. And Hakeem could shoot as many twos as he wants. The new rockets would rain down soo many threes that it would be over in 10 minutes. Go back and watch some of those cp3 harden rockets games. Like the one against suns where we literally put up 80 in a half. How could those old school rockets ever keep up. Not enough firepower outside of Hakeem. The top end players could translate and play with the guys todays but the role players would have no chance. Half those guys probably lose to college kids these days. 6 foot 3 shooting guards are not a thing anymore.
Our Champiionship teams would have destroyed the Harden teams. (although the NBA DID have to steal AT LEAST one title from us with them) That said, our best of the 80's would have beaten our title teams.
