Maybe a shot in the dark, but figured I'd check here anyway. My girlfriend is trying to get a guest speaker for some sort of banquet for a group of teenagers at her job. It's a Christian-based group and they were trying to find an athlete (preferably a basketball player) to talk about their faith to a group of teenagers. Someone put her in touch with a former Rocket whom she spoke with today and said he would be interested in speaking. My girlfriend, not being from Houston didn't know much about the guy's background, only that he had a pretty impressive professional career. After they hung up, she did a Google search on him and after talking with several co-workers and parents decided maybe he wasn't a good idea. Anyway, trying to see if anyone knew of any Houston-area athletes that are Christian and do guest speaking for teenagers? They're trying to go more for basketball players (doesn't have to be a current player), but I guess any sport would work.
It's in the next couple of months so I figured any current players would be out. The former Rocket has a lot of illegitimate children.
Obviously for a Christian-based group, Lin is the best candidate, but I don't know how to get a hold of his rep. Ryan Bowen?
Van Chancellor, the former Comets coach, would be a great choice. I know that he has been willing to speak at Christian events in the past. Good luck!
I second this. Jeremy is great with kids and public speaking. If you can get a hold of his reps, he would be great pick up.
Hakeem Olajuwon? Shareef Abdur-Rahim? Both excellent choices... Great people... Great men... Good luck!
Ceverly disguised get rid of Clyde/Bull and reunite Bill and Calvin thread. Done Doc Rocket style. I like it. My only critique: wrong forum.
So a guy who your lady reached out to was willing to come and help, but he has a lot of illegitimate children so he is not worthy to come speak to your christian group. That doesn't sound all that christian to me.
