From all the interviews I've seen Morey seems to be content with his current roster. Is it feasible that we don't sign another all star caliber player and just upgrade the roster?.

1) If a star is available to us and it makes sense, he'll of course jump on it
2) In lieu of that happening I think you are right. He will of course explore all the avenues, but I think he is at least content to just add MLE type upgrades.

As an example:
Paul/GP2
Harden/Gordon/Korver
Ariza/Gordon/Korver
Ryno/2Pat
Capela/Nene

Would he accept that roster? Maybe.

It's not ELITE, but it's a good shooting team. Harden and Paul would basically dominate the minutes at the 1 and the Gordon/Ariza/Korver would take up the backup 2 and 3 minutes. 2Pat and Ryno would be your stretch 4 sliding down to play the 5 in small ball lineups.

 

He's talking up his players as if they're unavailable to raise their trade value. I mean he did call Ryan Anderson the best big man shooter in the game the other day.

 

Doesn't it seem as if Morey acquired Joe Blow and Glenn Robinson IV and whomever not only as trade and roster pieces but....well, are we trying to enter July 1st operating over or under the cap? Unless we trade away large contracts.

 

I just don't think Morey is content at all with the roster, he knows now is the time if he wants CP to resign he has to develop a 60 win squad.

I'm going to go on a limb here and say PJ Tucker with the primary MLE signing.

Priority 1 - Trades (Paul George, Melo)
Priority 2 - S&T for Hayward, Millsap, Gallo, or Ibaka (but likely won't be meeting with them more than talking to teams reg S&T)
Priority 3 - MLE top acquisition (PJ Tucker, Pat Patterson, Olykyk, James Johnson, etc)
Priority 4 - Secure Nene coming back (assuming Bi Annual exception, but think there might be a way to sign him above the cap with rights)
Priority 5 - Signing Zho Qi & maybe Hartenstein with leftover part of MLE
Priority 6 - Vet min signings (Vince?, Scola, Larry Sanders?)

Simply adding PJ Tucker I think is a nice consolation prize if you do nothing else. Gives you a real solid defender to come off the bench and add that toughness that will be missing from Pat Bev. Can guard so many different positions, and not the liability that a Tony Allen is. I think he's a no-brainer EARLY target in FA with the MLE.

 

Maybe one of those contenders is Houston

 

Do y'all expect Harden & CP3 to be attending these meetings with Morey? Even maybe Les to explain that it's going all in no matter how much it cost

I certainly hope so. Tucker is the one I want with the MLE.

To me, since the "big deals" are likely already being worked with the teams that will be trading or signing and trading them, I just feel like you go first at your primary MLE target, and Tucker just fits what we do, and defensively it puts this team on another level. He likely gets some of Dekkers minutes from last year too, and doesn't hurt you as bad when you go small with the 2nd unit. If you can snag him, you do it. The question is, will he be getting offers over 10 mil a year?
