Have to differ with you. On the offensive end he was a load, but he didn't do a good job of defending the paint. I think he's a power 4, not a center. But his athletic ability and quickness was surprising to me. Got a couple of steals too.
Maybe a poor man's JJ Hickson is fair. But I think everyone's on the same page, he's got a long way to go, but seems like the guy wants to get better.
He can play both the 5 & 4 positions, but he'd probably have trouble with the faster guys like Davis.
Sounds ridiculous but we should wait til Smith misses a shot, he could shoot 328/328 on the season. I'm probably 70% right, which is passing in my book.
solid guy (literally) and definitely brought energy to the floor. i felt the power when he threw down that one dunk.
I'd say the fact that he limped off court and back into the locker room instead of being helped means it's not too serious... i hope
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/harden-brilliant-rockets-beat-pistons-021907253--nba.html With Houston down 11 points, Harden started the comeback with a 3-pointer, and Greg Smith followed with a dunk. Detroit led only 85-83 after consecutive 3-pointers by Delfino, then a layup by Chandler Parsons tied it. Smith dunked to put the Rockets ahead 89-87, and he dunked again to make it a four-point game before hobbling off with what he later said was a minor left foot injury. By then, Houston was already taking control of the game behind its two new playmakers, Harden and Lin. ''They're very smart players. You've got to give credit to them,'' Smith said. ''They know what they're doing on the court. They're very intelligent.''
Greg Smith shot 93% from the field in the preseason. So far, he shot 100% from the field and 100% from the line in the regular season.
Even though he is strongly rumored to be, well limp wristed if you will. He played a hell of a game tonight. Hope he is okay and comes back strong. He played just as well as Asik if not better.
Smith will be in a long battle with Aldrich for backup minutes at the 5. Having 3 legit centers feels wonderful after the Chuck Hayes era.
You should read the comments about him during game time. They were so negative about him and in one big dunk, they loved him again. So many knee jerk reactions here.
