He's shooting at a .612 clip and has played in 17 out of the 22 games (233 minutes total). This is great and let's hope the team keeps feeding the ball to him and he keeps getting open en go up strong. I wonder though why he's not eligible for top FG% in the NBA, cause he would be #2 in the league.
Need to be on pace for 300 FGM to qualify. He has 41 now. For 22 games, the pace would be 80. Unless his minutes double soon, he won't qualify this season.
Most of his shots are layups a foot from the basket....just sayin..good potential though. At least he can finish unlike Asik.
Maybe being "ox strong" and agile gets him 1 foot from the rim consistently. He gets himself at the right place at the right time. And he has the hands to catch and finish well.
smith made about 3 spectacular catches in the paint yesterday, the one that stuck out was a pass from patterson, smith was on his way thru the paint and the pass was behind him, smith stuck one hand out and snagged it, then went up with it.. yup, and dude is strong, would like to see him use that strength the way chuck did when he guarded much bigger players in the post.. chuck was a brick wall and guys couldnt even get their shot up over him. i would bring chuck back as a bench coach one day to show these guys how to bully low post threats..
When your big men can catch, good things happen. Otherwise, you get into situations like Kobe screaming at Kwame or Lowry yelling at Dalembert.
