Unless they rescind the QO, he has to accept that if he doesn't agree to an extension with them or an offer sheet from another team.

So yes, the Pistons have the right to match in any situation.

Not when you see guys like Parsons getting the max and know how limited bigs are in this league.

    That's right.

All Monroe has to do is get through next season healthy and he's looking at 4/65 to 4/70...which is more then the alleged 5/60 the Pistons have reported to have offered him that he denies he has been offered.

Feels like to me he really just doesn't want to be in Detroit

or wants to play more... surely a front court of drummond, smith and monroe puts a cap on his minutes and play

Maybe Bledsoe for Monroe? That might work for both teams. Detroit needs a point guard. Monroe could play center.

If so, what is stopping some teams from offering him that figure this summer? The only reason I can think of is that different teams will have the money to offer next summer.

Whatever the case, I'm not so optimistic about Monroe

The only team with cap space to do that is Philly. And I'm sure Philly doesn't want to take the chance that they are stuck with Monroe and can't move him.

Especially when they also have Noel and Embiid.

Minnesota would actually be a good fit for Monroe now that I think of it. I doubt they could get him though.

I'm pretty sure Monroe just doesn't want to be in Detroit. This is the fastest way not to be a Piston outside of him being moved (which they did try).

Can Monroe or Bledsoe negotiate an extension if traded to another team AFTER signing the QO? I'd imagine it would be too soon...

    Beverley
    Harden
    Ariza
    Monroe
    Howard

Is that not a championship team? I know we have high hopes for Durant but..

I think Monroe sigh-and-trade to Pelicans for Ryan Anderson is reliable.

Monroe could sigh a 3 yrs 40m deal with PO in 2016~17.

He can opt out in 2016 and get a new contract while the cap will raise to 80m.

Plus, he is originally from N'Awluns... but if he thought the Detroit front-court was crowded

Not really. Teams can be willing to offer more money in S&T because they do not have to go under the cap to offer that amount. For example, Dallas had to let go Carter, Marion, and ask Dirk to take a 60% paycut to clear the cap for Parsons. The Rockets are currently structuring most of their contracts so they can create capspace again next year if necessary. The hidden cost with giving max contracts also involve freeing up enough money in the first place and renouncing all your exceptions. The Rockets had to gut a lot of their team to chase Dwight last year, and would've gutted our young talents further going after Bosh/Melo this year. These costs don't apply to a S&T.

BYC status for both player would make salary matching a nightmare if not downright impossible
