I cried like a baby, and I am not much of a crier. I have cried very few times in my life, but this was one of them. There was just so much frustration built up.
The Kiss of Death, followed by Dream double faking David Robinson on the baseline in the Western Conference Finals.
I was at that game and I was crying too. Been a Rockets fan since they moved from San Diego, and so much weight of frustration lifted as well as tears of joy.
Beating the Knicks And knowing clutchfans would never have any member disrespect our first championship @Os Trigonum Oh wait
Most of my favorite moments with the Rockets have been posted, but I didn't see this gem. Sir Charles takes down Shaq! It was beautiful. Despite what a pain in the ass the guy can be, I've liked Barkley ever since, just for that one moment as a Rocket, humiliating Shaq. I don't think Shaq's ever forgiven him for it, either.
- Dreams block on Stark - Kiss of the Death To throw out a moment that probably wouldn't be up there with "Greatest", but the moment was one of my favorites. Yao Ming clearly in pain in the hallway telling Keith "I really want to go back out there" against the Lakers, then going out and immediately hitting that jump shot. Man, that team with Artest/Yao/Battier...they played so freaking hard.
Glad you posted this, Deck. And, all Marv can talk about is Shaq and his weak cross. I've always loved how Big Sexy bonks him in the head with the ball, and takes him down. It's been a long time. : ) This thread really should have been tilted greatest/favorite moments (plural), but folks got the idea.
I remember reenacting this in my living room for weeks after it happened. Still might do it now whenever I see it. Hell, gonna go do it right now...
Hard to beat anything to do with the championships, but for an individual meaningful play I'll got with Ralph banking one in at the last second to eliminate the Lakers.
Historically, we've won two championships so obviously there are some great moments. The Kiss of Death and the Starks block are both iconic. Recent history? It's got to be the comeback against the Clippers or how we gave this historic Warriors team everything they could handle this year. Rockets fans know damn well we win that series if CP3 didn't get hurt.
I was going to say Motumbo on his back, squeezing the ball after eliminating Seattle, thus clearing Rockets path to the finals, but Hakeem Fingertip block on Starks 3 is hard to beat!
A) When dream gave drexler a high five after the second championship! B) watching dream sitting at the scorers table sucking it all in after our first championship C) the heart of the champion speech D) kiss of death... i hated barkley before he was a rocket. All the crap that came out of his mouth...made that kiss mean so much! E) rockets finally beating the sonics in 96-97 F)sampson shot G) harden's first game as a Rocket (I really thought we were doomed to tank for a few years)
