I think Lebron takes more lightly or uncontested shots from mid range and out than any other star wing. I agree, he scores effortlessly in the paint, and that's why he rarely faces significant pressure on the perimeter. But, it's difficult to judge how much of that inside scoring ability is due to skill or his massive strength/speed/leaping ability advantage over his defender.
Did you watch the end of the Cavs game yesterday? LeBron was hitting ridiculously difficult shots from 20 feet out with Pietrus all over him. But I see what you're saying about teams preferring to give him the jump rather than the drive. Its a good point.
360 spin into a blindsided jumper...I involuntarily did the Chris Berman yelp (which I hate). <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/erUP_KW5dYY&hl=en_US&fs=1& start=136"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/erUP_KW5dYY&hl=en_US&fs=1&start=136" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
I was looking at the scoring champion race again, and found this pretty interesting. In each of the five categories below, Lebron, Melo and Durant are all bunched together, whether they are the league leaders, or if they are preceded by others. Code: Lebron Melo Durant 29.9 (1) PPG 29.3 (3) PPG 29.8 (2) 20.1 (5) FGA 21.6 (3) FGA 20.5 (4) (Bryant & Ellis lead) 10.1 (3) FGM 10.0 (4) FGM 9.8 (5) (Bryant & Ellis lead) 10.2 (2) FTA 10.0 (3) FTA 9.9 (4) (Dwight Howard leads) 7.9 (3) FTM 8.4 (2) FTM 8.7 (1) League rank in parentheses Not sure exactly what to make of it, but there must be some significance to them taking even the same number of field goals. Easiest conclusion to draw: it classifies the scoring SF position/role.
