Deepdiscountdvd.com is running a sale right now for 20% off if anyone is interested. There regular prices are about the cheapest on the internet and the coupon makes it even better. They also give free shipping by usps mediamail which can take a while but hell its free.

For instance i just ordered The Big Lebowski for 7.50 shipped.

Just enter the promo code at checkout: DEEPDISCOUNT

I have ordered a few DVD's from them in the past and had no troubles.

So I should get a DVD+R or -R drive to record DVDs and not a DVD+RW or -RW or do all 4 do equally well?

Yup, DVD shrink 3.1 is the best ever. I use DVD Decrypter to rip it into my hard drive and use DVD Shrink 3.1 to configure, compress & burn. (If it's under 4.3 Gigs, there is no need for compression and can use nero to burn it). Let me know if you guys need any help with it....

Everything. The video is compressed a bit to fit a single layer DVD but you can hardly noticed unless you have a HDTV.

You should celebrate your new purchase by mixing yourself a White Russian.

If you insist on buying now get this one for $69.99.

It does DVD + and - R and RW. Has some of the fastest speeds, to: 8x 4x 8x 4x. Only thing it doesn't do is DVD-RAM

Or you can wait a few months for the dual-layer (DL) drive prices to drop. They can burn DVDs to twice as much size - same size a commercial DVD. But they're kinda expensive right now, and the DL media isn't available in America yet.

Note: on the NEC drive I linked to above, there is a firmware hack that lets you burn dual layer. (Or so it's thought - testing isn't complete because of a lack of DL media)

How did a post about a great DVD sale get derailed into a discussion about movie pirating?

actually, the prices of the dual layer have already dropped quite a bit. you can get a dual layer burner for $88 at newegg.

now only if the dual layer media were cheaper...

Being from newegg i imagine that its the real thing. Still the deal seems too good to be true...

I have been holding out for dual layer becase i dont want to compress the video. Anyone have any idea when dual layer media will be available at a decent price?
