Heck, I eat at Mighty Fine pretty often. Great burgers and fries, and very high quality. I was going to include it on my little list, but decided I would stick with the two places that are more comparable to In&Out in that they are drive-ins and the costs are similar. My only complaint about Mighty Fine is that they don't have malt to put in their otherwise excellent shakes. I had a peach shake there a few weeks ago (they cycle through different flavors outside of their regular shakes, as you probably know) and it was one of the best I've ever had. Because of your post, I think I'll add it to my list after all.
I do agree that to an outsider dallas feels more upscale and prettier. Plus Cowboys are more popular and that probably adds to the snobbiness. Like you said..houston really is a bunch of strip malls. you can't tell what part of town you are in sometimes because it's the same concept. I wish developers would try some new ideas. I am tired of seeing just parking lots everywhere. Maybe start putting parking behind the buildings or something. Or common garages for a set of stores. The areas of houston that looks nicer have less parking lots and more aesthetically pleasing buildings.
Good post I honestly don't see the "terrible people", but have heard Dallasites say Houston was more friendly. People in Ft Worth even say similar about Dallas. They call a bunch of wannabees. I definitely don't see the women being stuck up DFW. Did you ever spend time outside of Dallas ( i.e. Ft Worth, Arlington, etc ) ?
Its funny, I have friends that I went to school with from Ft Worth and they have real animosity towards dallas.
wow. you're certainly a bundle of laughs. but you have helped clear the cobwebs away from my eyes, my self-knowledge is now total. you have my undying gratitude
Lived in FW area for 3 years, can confirm, people in FW are superior (and know it) to the plastic Dallas dwellers. All DFW is inferior to H-Town people in terms of friendliness and open-mindedness. I personally don't consider Dallas a 'Southern' city- it's more of a southern salient of the Midwest.
I am from Houston, living in Fort Worth right now. Fort Worth is much more livable than Dallas. I only prefer Dallas for one thing - the barbecue at Pecan Lodge.
This thread is funny. Or fun, whitchever. Dallas people are assholes, everyone knows this, everyone says this, even the people who live in/near Dallas. Fort Worth is a great place, so are all the small towns around there: Grapevine, Granbury, etc.. Hamilton, Cherokee, and things south are great too.
So any specific cutoffs ? West of Hwy 360 is good ? Half-way between 360 and 820 ? How far North ? Denton included ?
What Austin needs, just like the rest of Texas and everywhere else in the United States, is MORE people.
Ft Worth Houston Corpus San Antonio El Paso Nacogdoches Austin Waco Dallas That's the definitive ranking of Texas cities.
Nope. Everyone else has said, "Houston > Ft Worth". You guys are also too dismissive of including Ft Worth with Dallas. I used to also. Those Dallas Haters love them some Cowboys (and Mavs, Stars, and Rangers) and reap the benefits of Dallas, so they're lying if they say they'd rather be without Big D-ouche.
