http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080901/ap_on_bi_ge/google_browser Chrome? Should be available for download tomorrow, I think I'm going to take a look at it.
I like this. The more competition the better. But why couldn't Google accomplish their goals with Firefox? I suppose it's control and how to monetize it. I'm gonna wait 2-3 weeks before downloading it.
I am happy with Firefox. The concerns raised with Google in the past over privacy is enough to scare me away.
I'm sort of torn between admiring them for their execution and getting worried about too much dominance by them.
Google is a two trick pony. Search and gmail and only because they were the first to have huge limits. Everything else has been blah.
Actually they are just a one-trick pony when you consider search is the only thing they do exceptionally well and can monetize.
Google Earth is not just an application, it's an end game strategy. Worst case scenario, I'd rather join them over Wal-Mart when the world is ultimately split up among corporations, not countries, in our Blade Runner future. In the meantime I'm looking forward to trying out their new toy.
I don't trust Google and their endless servers to mine data from us. While I might look into Android, no way am I going to use their new browser to snoop on us even more. Adsense is why they're worth in the hundred billions.
I disagree. I personally use the following Google apps on a weekly basis: -Gmail -Search -Google Maps -Google Earth -Google Reader -Adsense Seems weird to me that everybody is picking on Google. They've never done anything I've noticed to make themselves feel untrustworthy.
they have a lot of products but they dont make money off of anything but advertising, really. and making money is really the point of a company
Gmail, Maps, & Reader are all very good, competitive products. They may not make much money directly, but they increase the user base, online presence, and overall branding. The future is cloud computing, and Google is dominating the game before it's really started.
