Look around to see if there is a option to select your download bandwidth. Sometimes the default number is pretty low, like 10 or 15 KBS, this number is then divided between the number of simultaneous downloads you have going. (Assuming you have a fast connection) I bumped my sdownload up to 300 kbs so the only limit is from the source.

Also, let the file search run for a while before you select a source so you can find a faster one. It may be worth waiting in a longer que to get a faster source. lately I've been seeing sources up to 75 kbs, some with 20 or 30 thousand files.

I use SoulSeek. Be sure to set your anti-virus to scan all downloaded files.

I use Ares Galaxy. It has a lot of the underground junk I listen to, but not quite as much mainstream stuff. It also has a nice star rating system to show which files you have the best chance of actually downloading quickly, which ties into its swarming download feature. Meaning, if 6 people have a file, you'll be d/l from all 6 at once. The program shares all filetypes, too. No spyware that I'm aware of.

Here's a place you can d/l it and try it out.

I really loved AudioGalaxy. Are there any programs similar to that around?

Ares Lite is the best program i've used since napster. plus, it plays media out of my default program (winamp), which totally kicks ass. and it doesnt slow down my computer hardly at all, which is saying a lot since my computer sucks.
