SF is a beautiful city with tons to see other than the bridge. Build in enough time to take the drive down Highway 1 down the coast....just amazing. While in SF, make sure to visit Alcatraz. Take the night tour.
The bridge is just a tiny portion of what SF is. Rent a jeep and do the drive around the city http://www.sftodo.com/scenic-49-mile-drive.html Twin peaks. Muir woods. Amazing food.
This. Even if you're not a baseball fan, just watching a game on the bay at that beautiful stadium is worth it. I've attended 3 games there and enjoyed every minute of it, especially in August. Wearing a jacket watching an outdoor baseball game in August, noice.
I didn't have time to do this when I was there last, but it's on my bucket list. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/DRZuEz2VJ40" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
My parents took me on that trip when I was about 12. I took my wife and sons out there last summer, and we made the trek from SF to LA down the coast. Just amazing. And the albino dude in Foul Play scared the eff out of me when I was a little kid, by the way.
Actually, there's 3... spoiler'd for size... Old Bay Bridge Spoiler New Bay Bridge Spoiler Golden Gate Bridge Spoiler
This. The bridge is one of many fixtures that makes the peninsula pop. Depends on your wallet and how much lighter you want it to be. From zero to many many zeros....
I live in San Francisco these days, and I agree with this bottom line. The bridge is really cool, and it's almost scary to walk across it -- it's that high and exposed. But OP, you could plan an entire trip for the bridge, only to find it cloudy and foggy for the days you're here.
after clubbing one night 20yrs ago we walked into a jack-in-the-box in the tenderloin since it was open 24hrs. one of the guys in our group was black. while sitting down and eating, this drunk woman in her early 30's comes in, walks up to him, and asks for his autograph. "aren't you spike lee??!!"
