I'm going to Montreal for the F1 race, starting next week. I'll be up there for a total of 10 days. What's there to do in Montreal and surrounding areas( Vermont)? Tours, nightlife, activities, food........ Thanks.
lots of stuff I'm here now. Last call is at 3:am And supposesdy the F1 brings out the supermodels of the world. read up on www.toutmontreal.com oh yeah, the exchange rate rocks. That Euro was killing me in France. Go USA, at least our economy will always pw3n Canada's.
Make sure to stop by Schwartz's (sp?) for there famous smoked meat sandwhich's. They are to die for. If I recall if you stick to St. Catherine St. there is plenty of nightlife activity. Oh, don't forget to visit the Notre Dame cathedral..very nice.
I second that Schwartz's recommendation. I was up there 2 weeks ago. Schwartz's, poutine from La Belle Province, and sangria... you can't go wrong. Notre Dame is ok.. that big church on that hill is ok too.. Check out the jazz bars and strip clubs. Supersexe- if u like touristy stuff or Chez Paris- thats good too. Have fun and expect to gain 10 lbs.
I was in Montreal a couple of weeks ago. Nice city. Did all the usual tourist stuff(Biodome, Biosphere, Olympic Stadium, Botannical Garden, old part of the city - Notre Dame Basilica is amazing inside), plus some rafting, trip to the casino and saw Bright Eyes/The Faint at the Metropolis. The subway is quick and very easy to use IMO. The roads are insane there, I much preferred the trains. I might be moving out there later in the year(there or Quebec City) depending on work. I didn't get to go to Schwartz's but everyone told me how amazing it is. Yeah, expect to go on a diet when you come back. I thought I had a healthy apetite.
I always used to sit in the grass on turn number 2 where there is a little grass hill. There is one of those Chicane things there so the cars slow down and you can take great pictures. Then they pick up to like 200 coming out of the corner. It was sweet. You need to get there early and reserve your spot with a blanket since so many people go to that thing. I saw Schumacher win in 95/96 or thereabouts in his first year with Ferrari and I think Alesi won the next year. Good times.
I remember when Schumacher won that year the fans stormed the race track, and I mean like thousands, and several of them almost got hit. The F-1 Drivers did the best driving after the race just trying to avoid these people. it was pandemonium.
Yes, I third Schwartz's. I was there a few years back for a couple of days and I had it "like twice" in as many days. I think it was better than it was before. Too bad no more Expos. I thought the games were fun, even though no one showed up.
