Look, I don't have a problem with him taking 3's. That's still not a reason to take the most every single game when 8 other guys are shooting more effectively.
Give me one good reason the Rockets should be taking the most shots from behind the arc every game. Why on earth are they taking over 43 3pt shots a game when they have the 15th ranked 3pt% this season? It is driving me crazy to watch them take all these 3pt shots game after game! Spoiler Gordon doesn't really bother me. Harden 10.6 att. - .390 Gordon 9.6 att - .337 Green 8.2 att - .446 Ariza 7.2 att - .381 Paul 6.8 att - .380 Anderson 5.9 att - .373 Tucker 3.2 att - .338 LMaM 2.8 att - .373 Brown 2.0 att - .275 T.Williams 1.3 att - .000 Qi 1.1 att - .133 Weber 0.7 att - .444 Clearly we need to give Gerald & Briante more/all of the 3pt shots and Gordon needs to reduce his 3pt attempts to 3 per game like P.J (who doesn't shoot enough!). Spoiler Come again?!
OK, whatever. Just thinking about games down the stretch, and especially come playoffs. We have lots of talent, but I'd love to see us get any edge we can use, and just think we have more of a chance by spreading the shot selection out among the guys shooting better.
Shoot 3 to open up the drive. Drive to open up the 3pt shots. They go hand in hand for a player like him.
Because our whole strategy is about the open man taking the shot with confidence. I honestly only get annoyed when somebody like Ryan Anderson passes on an open 3 pointer.
We have posters who want to tell EG to shoot...less? When up till yesterday we have 20 million dollar men in the squad who are afraid to shoot?!
It amazes me how people just take this with a grain of salt. I am not justifying guys passing up shots at all. But, how many times have you seen Ariza waving his arms, or seen someone wide open and Gordon doesn't even look their way yet forces a 3PT shot? How many times have to seen someone start lighting up the 3's, whether it be Ariza, Paul, Green, etc....and yet Eric keeps forcing 3's instead of getting more balls to them? This isn't a one game complaint people. This is just an observation that I see that bothers me, and I still haven't been given a good reason for him to be taking all the shots.
People complain that Ryno doesn’t shoot much. Now people are also complaining the EGo takes too many 3’s.
Because he is a good shooter, and he's only shooting slightly more than last season (10.6 per 36, 10.2 last season) We also happen to have the best offense in the NBA, with Harden and Paul missing time. I wouldn't worry about a good shooter shooting.
I like what I'm seeing from Gordon. Yes, I want to see him shooting better from long range. But, he has changed his game for the better this year in my opinion. His effective field goal percentage is about the same as last year, but his shot selection has changed. He's driving to the basket more often and has greatly increased the number of times he gets to the line. Last year he had 2.3 free throw attempts per game. This year he has 4.3 attempts per game. He will find his touch from long range again, I'm sure of that. In the meantime he's still helping the team win games.
