If you’re OKC and you have to pick between them, who you got and why? This could be an interesting development.
Giddey looks like he’ll be better at running a team, he’s pretty much white Rondo with upside right now Shai’s strength is scoring, he doesn’t really create that well for others let Shai focus on scoring and being a secondary playmaker
Apparently OKC’s coach completely agrees with you. It’s Shai that has a problem with this. He wants the ball. He’s willing to see how things work, but if he becomes disgruntled because he doesn’t like playing off the ball, he’ll force the Thunder to make a decision between the 2. For him to say publicly that’s not his plan A is a red flag.
Shai needs to realize that it’s what is best for him and the team…rookie year Giddey already averaging more assists than Shai ever has, and he wasn’t even the primary playmaker…Shai will still have the ball a lot since he’s the team’s best scorer by far so he really shouldn’t be complaining like he is
Sooner or later he's going to demand to get out even if you cave in and give him the ball now. And he's not a guy you want to be your alpha. I'd sell high if I were OKC.
Much ado about nothing. Here's his full reply. There is no whining or complaining or anything like that.
Sga did use the word sacrifice. Right now it's nothing and at least publicly both guys are saying the right thing. Hey, if he becomes a disgruntled, he's healthier than Zion, younger than Dame, might be a candidate to go after.
There's hardly anyone who deserves to handle the ball 90% of the time for a title contender. I never understood why people take this stuff seriously. Giddey can be PG and SGA can be a high usage SG at the same time, there's no issue except SGA confidently believes he can compete for more control of the offense.
I really really like Shai’s game. He’s already a borderline all-star. That being said, I love Giddey. He has the ability to be the best point guard in the NBA in a few years. Scoring might not come to the tune of 18-20 points a night but the kid knows how to run an offense and plays defense very well.
I'm wondering why Shai's game isn't translating to more wins for OKC. I guess he's still young at 23 but he still seems like a good stats bad team guy so far.
They're just young and inexperienced outside of SGA and Dort. When the team's 2nd best (or even a 1B) player is a 19 year old rookie from Australia you're not going to win a lot of games. Giddey is awesome and should be outstanding moving forward but he's not a good shooter. Same goes for the rest of the starting lineup. Even SGA is only shooting 43% this year and that's the highest among all starters.
It was actually translating to too many wins last year that they had to fake an injury and shut him down the last 1/3 season. He's been in and out of the lineup this year too.
