Giannis isn't even a top-ten shot-blocker. Absolute disgrace to the great Yoruba people who pride themselves on defensive excellence in athletic competition. Olajuwon lived up to the promise of Oduduwa but I don't think Antetokounmpo will... I pray to Olorun every night not to let the league gift this brat the MVP award this season.

I am Yoruba and knew Giannis was immediately I heard his last name even though it had a Greek spelling. Yorubas were the most sought after slaves during the slave trade because of our agricultural prowess. So a lot od African Americans are desendants of Yorubas as well. In Brazil Yoruba is still being spoken due to the large number of Yorubas taken there. We were predominatly practicing a Yoruba religion in the old days but are now probably split 64% christians and 33% muslims and 2% practice the old religion

Giannis is Greek translation for Johnathan, his birth name was Johnathan Adetokunbo and when they became Greek citizens they changed it
Dude he said Nigeria and you pulled up Africa. Yes Nigeria is in Africa but what you did was tantamount to saying "Karbach isn't really a big deal in Texas, its not even sold in Canada. Africa is a continent, Nigeria is a country and in that country there are three major tribes; Igbo, Yoroba and Hausa. They make up 75% of the population. Trying to minimize the scope is like saying all Spanish speakers in Texas are blood related

    LOL WHAT?
You just make stuff up at this point.
He was born in Greece and was baptised in a greek orthodox church as Ioannis which happens also to be one of the most common names for greek males. Its so common there around 20 proverbs with his name.

Lets hear what can you come up with as the nigerian original names for his brothers names Thanassis, Alexandros and Kostantinos as well now.

Fun fact his brother's name Thanassis, the common nickname of it is Thanos.
    Greece is full of Thanoss
