Last I checked, Dragic was benched in the fourth quarter cause he wasn't playing any defense... Defense at the PG position isn't where the defensive issues lie at this point.

this is true, and I know I emphasized the mid range game in my post, but Scola was also very crafty around the rim and got a lot of high percentage shots in the paint, which fits what we're trying to do. anyway, it's all moot I guess. I thought we could get him after this season but that isn't the case =/

Please. Lowry will pass the ball to whoever is open. Whether that results in a shot at the rim, from midrange or 3 very much depends on the offense.

Lin has played in two spacing-driven systems. Obviously his assists will lead to more shots at the rim and from 3, if that's what the offense dictates.

What is this defense dilemma? Last I checked, the players destroying the Rockets in the 8 losses are:

Batum, Aldridge, Dwight Howard, Durant, Lebron

yeah, we're good here NOW. just like any good scouting in the NBA, you adjust. harden has never been the focal point of an offense, which is why he wont off for 37 in his 1st game with us. He's come back down to earth a bit because teams are starting to adjust their defense. How is that not a reasonable argument? Also, there's still too much ISO in our offense when we're down or in a close game. We need to get away from that and keep the ball movement going and hit the open man

I think Miami was good at the beginning of the season. However, teams were going to adjust to them. So they should have traded to get more offense to surround LBJ Wade and Bosh because teams were going to realize how to cover them

I dug up the numbers for the other thread but I'll just paste them here:

    Lowry assists 2011/2012 (Rockets):
    3pt: 75 (~24%)
    Close: 87 (~28%)
    Dunk :16 (~5%)
    Jump: 132 (~42%)
    Total: 310
    Passing Rating: 9.6
    AST48: 9.9

    Lowry assists 2011/2012 (Raptors):
    3pt: 16 (~26%)
    Close: 10 (~16%)
    Dunk: 5 (~8%)
    Jump: 29 (~48%)
    Total: 60
    Passing Rating: 7.4
    AST48: 8.3

Small sample size for Lowry, but if it holds then he actually got more inefficient.

    Compared to Lin's

    Lin assists 2011/2012 (Knicks):
    3pt: 50 (~23%)
    Close: 60 (~28%)
    Dunk: 64 (~30%)
    Jump: 41 (~19%)
    Total: 215
    Passing Rating: 13.8
    AST48: 11

Lin assists 2012/2013 so far (Rockets):
    3pt: 23 (~29%)
    Close: 24 (~30%)
    Dunk :18 (~23%)
    Jump: 14 (~18%)
    Total: 79
    Passing Rating: 13.6
    AST48: 8.7

    Harden assists 2011/2012 (OKC):
    3pt: 78 (~34%)
    Close: 40 (17%)
    Dunk: 33 (~14%)
    Jump: 78 (~34%)
    Total: 229
    Passing Rating: 6.0
    AST48: 5.6

Harden assists 2012/2013 (Rockets), dramatic change in assist pattern, so I suspect coaching:
    3pt: 24 (~37.5%)
    Close: 16 (25%)
    Dunk: 11 (~17%)
    Jump: 13 (~20%) <—dramatically lower while all other's increased
    Total: 64
    Passing Rating: 6.6
    AST48: 6.2

really? cmon now. miami has 3 offensive threats. we have 1. parsons is developing still but as of now we only have harden, who, even he is starting to stink it up lately. all I'm saying is that if we could theoretically get scola back, I think he would be a great fit with this new team since asik can cover his big weakness

The Rockets traded Scola away to make Houston more attractive to Kevin Love. :)

This is the worst idea I've ever read and I read the Chronicle sports section sometimes.

He's washed up and that's coming from a big Scola fan. Daryl isn't getting called out for Scola getting paid ~$20M, I think, by the Rockets be he really should be.

Scola no longer fits with this team. I wish him the best, but I do not think he will ever don a Rockets uniform again. To old, to slow and not a help on defense.

Give him some respect. He was solid for most of his time here.

Well, you just made my point. Harden's numbers are dramatically lower because of the system the Rockets run.

You have to understand that this offense/system the Rockets run is drastically different from last year's system.
Totally different personal, totally different sets, hence comparing Lowry's numbers to Lin's just doesn't make much sense. It's largely the system that dictates where the shots come from, not the players.

You just want let up off of Harden.... Every thread you have something negative to say about Harden...

This thread is about Scola, but yet you bring in something negative about Harden...

We get it... You don't like the guy.. But there's no need to start crap in a thread that has nothing to do with him..

Would love to get Scola back but that would defeat the purpose of what Morey is trying to do with the franchise.
