I just don't get it... WHY does Harden have to bring the ball up court? The excuse given is that he has to do so much on offense that he doesn't have the juice to play consistent defense, right? So why doesn't he let someone else do this mundane task and he can get an easier time for at least a few seconds every possession.... He can get the ball right back when he makes it up court... it isn't like there is always such swarming defense on the perimeter that he can't get the ball back...? Plus I think we often become stagnant because James oftentimes brings the ball up rather slowly... he flirts with a backcourt violation pretty regularly... Imo, we should be pushing the ball up court asap... try to maximize before the d has set, see if we can get a defensive breakdown or mismatch.... cheap easy buckets - y'know, like most teams do us! lol! Push the ball, let James stroll up court, and if no immediate opportunities have presented themselves... then give James the ball at the top of the key and let him go to work...
MDA has done so many interviews lately that I can't keep them straight -- but I heard him say in one of them that they'd experiment with him bringing it up, but wanted to be mindful of how much it wears on him, etc. So at least the concern is there, it seems.
he flits with the backcourt violation to conserve his energy. yes, for the past two seasons including playoffs, he's done nearly everything on offense. its fkn rediculous as i've said many times, this team needs at least another ball handler/play maker, and they solve that problem with 40 year old priggs who wont even be in the rotation. 6'11 260lb nene is the 2nd best passer in the rotation bev shoudl really try to bring the ball up now. he's the fkn pg do some pg stuff. he's really the only one. ariza wont hold the dribble for more than 2 seconds
Harden already brought the ball up a lot, especially during key parts of the game. Does MDA realize this?
Hopefully we get to see some point forward from Harden too. Bev Gordon Harden Anderson Capela Would be a hard lineup to stop.
The only think a pg does that Harden doesn't do consistently is bring the ball up the court. I don't think Harden needs to bring the ball up the court.
They should have a bench lineup like: Harden Gordon Brewer or KJ Ariza Capela or Nene If we go big at PG we should go small at PF at times, and be able to switch everything 1-4, while center protects the paint. Ariza takes the toughest cover and while i have little faith in Brewer or KJ as 3pt shooters one of them could step up and make this work by taking the 2nd toughest cover including PGs, being able to switch everything 1-4, and adding speed.
