Including the EU's open border's immigration policy?

To be fair, they do seem to be committed to their socialized medicine and the welfare packages are truly extraordinary compared to what we generally have here. But the fiscal practices of the different countries in the EU are putting an immense strain on the Eurozone economic framework and part of the reason for that is of course the unaffordable costs associated with some of these policies.

Fiscal policy, immigration and movement policy, and trade policy. Is her vision for the EU and the Eurozone sustainable in these areas?

The next-up default leader of the EU experiment has to be French President Emmanuel Macron. But he is having problems at home and was in truth substantially dependent on the power of Angela Merkel and Germany for his leadership role in the EU. Macron believes in the united EU project, but he is not strong enough to be the leader of this effort without Merkel there to lean on.

The UK Financial Times weighs in on this aspect of how Merkel's departure effects the prospects of the EU going forward, and President Macron's ability to fill her shoes:

Christopher Caldwell at the Weekly Standard makes a compelling case that Angela Merkel's legacy was radical, cynical and anything but "centrist,":

Of course the globalist, "Politically correct" left would have everyone believe that centrism is whatever they say it is, and anyone who disagrees is a racist or a bigot. {Yawn}. It isn't and they are not centrists. Angela Merkel has moved her country and the EU radically to the left, and the people of Europe are showing through their voting and Merkel's resignation that they are not as supportive of this agenda as the elitist running things in the EU need for them to be to stay on this course.

This is what a more objective and detached evaluation of Angela Merkel's legacy is likely to conclude, regardless of whether that defies current notions of "Political correctness" or not.

Yeah, it's the right decision, sad to say.

Here are a few quotes from an article from the Trotskyists at the World Socialist website, who are clearly quite alarmed by the pending implications of Chancellor Merkel's retirement:

Based on what I have seen in this forum, it would not come as a surprise to discover that we have a few Trotskyist posters around here. So, it will equally not come as a surprise if certain posters here advocate similar views as these.

In any case, these hardcore socialists of the old schools are up to no good and will bring about the same sort of devastation, dictatorship, chaos, poverty and suffering that their Russian revolution forefathers did. It is good to be aware of these sorts of peoples perspective and their values, if for no other reason than to guard against it.

I wouldn't say that, but thank you, if you are being serious.

Merkel is now apparently channeling her inner Trump, as she pushes tax cuts ahead of her party congress in December.

Almost two-thirds of Germans want Merkel to step down-poll

BERLIN (Reuters) - Some 62 percent of Germans want Angela Merkel to step down, a survey showed on Wednesday, just over a week after she said she would relinquish her role as chair of the Christian Democrats but remain chancellor of Europe’s economic powerhouse.

The Insa survey of around 4,000 people for Bild newspaper showed that some 38 percent of Germans did not want Merkel to resign.
