"out for season" is just the nomenclature used because we're already at the midway point. Any 8-10 week injury/recovery process is effectively the rest of the season.
Damn, two years in the league and this could be the second time he misses all or a major chuck of the second half of the season with an injury.
True.... this one more of a fluke though (remember, Bagwell had the same injury two years in a row). Springer's legs have held up thus far though... and if its not as severe an injury as we're suspecting, this rest will actually do him some good.
Houston sports lately; when the Texans are good, our QB's get hurt (or forget how to play QB all together). Rockets with the best team in years only to have major season ending injuries. Now the Astros have a great team for the first time in a decade...
We still have plenty of young exciting talent in the outfield, this is just a temporary setback. Tucker and Santana now have the chance to go out there every day and show what they're made of.
One of those three is not like the other (meaning the Rockets would have needed to suffer a Howard or Harden injury to compare to the other two teams). Springer is young... he'll be back eventually... lets not start writing any eulogies yet. They're still going to likely need more pitching to maintain their division lead.... not sure if the severity of this injury really changes that.
3 years in a row, in fact. Man were those rough years (lucky the strike made one of them mostly irrelevant)
Oh yeah... forgot about 1993. Also, the 1994 strike likely clinched the MVP for him, as it would have been tough to award it somebody who missed that much time (but still had deserving enough numbers).
Let's see where he lands on the DL and prognosis before the sky starts falling. This is why you build a deep farm system, it's just next man up.
Oh no. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Right Wrist Fracture for Springer.</p>— PDS (@PatDStat) <a href="https://twitter.com/PatDStat/status/616661058724433920">July 2, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Do you look to put Kemp on the 40 man and bring him up if springer is out an extended period? His all around play has been pivotal. I can't see our hodge podge mess of guys holding it down for him unless Marisinick get's crazy hot again (doubtful). Kemp is one of those obp players that could replace springer in the field, in the leadoff position, and on the bases (with much less pop)
Damn. How long will this take? 60 days? <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Astros?src=hash">#Astros</a> officially place OF George Springer on the 15-day DL (right wrist fracture) and select OF Alex Presley from Triple A Fresno.</p>— #VoteAltuve (@astros) <a href="https://twitter.com/astros/status/616660884480503808">July 2, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
yep, agreed. Let me see if I can remember off hand... .347 43 HRs in a shortened year? Something like that..
