My daughter likes these guys..I think they're aight. I actually like this - soft fuzz pop. like Lush meets First Aid Kit Speaking of First Aid Kit..do they count or is their audience too old?
We need better names for new generations -- adding a letter is boring and confusing. Boomers and Gen X work well, but Gen Y/Z need to be scrapped entirely (some old ones are bad too ex: Silent Generation) Millennials and iGen need to be used exclusively -- IMO they are better descriptors of who we are taking about. End mini-rant on to the music.
If we’re talking about what music is hot with generation Z, then Travis may be #1 although he is himself a millennial.
What I'm seeing is the true age group that identifies as Gen Z goes back to being born in the early 90's instead of mid 90's which is what a Google search will tell you. By this logic, I would say that Travis Scott is definitely a Gen Z music icon. I'm discovering that a lot of this music is genre-busting at a next level from what we saw in the late 90's early 00's with Nu Metal (rap-rock). I listened to some Ghostemane stuff today and while it's not at the tempo I prefer (I like high tempo), it's pretty groundbreaking in terms of changing paradigms. It's rap heavily influenced by Nu, Industrial and Black Metal. I would post some but I think it's too far-out for this crowd. Search on youtube.
