Strictly from the eye test, it seems to me like Gattis was making good contact the last couple games and seeing the pitches well. Carter, on the other hand, was swinging at pitches so far outside the strike zone that the catcher was having a hard time catching the ball. Feel somewhat good that Gattis will turn it on soon. Carter, on the other hand . . .
I get it, we are fans of the "what have you done for me now" generation, but trying to make any sort of broad conclusions about a player or a trade after 20 at bats seems pretty silly to me.

^ Nice one. I saw the story about that OSO name he picked up in International play... it seems he's an OSO and he's trying to hit a golf ball.
He got his first hit! He started the season 0-23, but even crazier he was actually 0-37 going back to last season <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>There it is. Evan Gattis with a ninth-inning single to snap his 0-for-23 for the season and 0-for-37 since last year.</p>— Brian McTaggart ⚾️ (@brianmctaggart) <a href="https://twitter.com/brianmctaggart/status/587811816111116288">April 14, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
He looked comically bad the first few games, but he's gotten much better swings the last 2 games. You can't panic over a bad week in baseball when a guy has a track record.
Hopefully he can get it going, but if he can't it will make it hard for Hinch to play him on a regular basis knowing he's getting nothing from him. Gattis & Carter
I do, and that's a crappy rule to me. Furthermore, if he gives Castro a breather, you're risking BOTH offense and defense. I personally think it's worse if he's a DH and he's not producing, because "they have one job... ONE JOB."
He hit the ball on the screws in his first ab last night...just happened to be right at the LF'er on a rope.
Actually, he looked his best to me in the 1st game. He had some hard outs, then it started to get ugly.
